Alexander the Pegasus
Say hello to the official character sheet for my pegasus boyo, Alexander! He's a soft spoken fella with a very storied family history.
I shall now regale you all with his a brief overview of his family history. Alexander can trace his ancestry all the way back to the Companion Cavalry of Alexander the Great. His family stayed in Greece for several hundred years, until the Roman conquest of the peninsula, at which point his family worked their way into Roman citizenship, becoming a part of the Equite social class through military and political service. During the crisis of the 3rd century, his family fled north, and wound up integrating into the germanic tribes, where they wound up being highly regarded for their winged visage. Over the centuries they wound up moving further and further north, until they wound up in Norway, where they became even more revered for their appearance, and the took on the name of Odin's 8 legged steed for the prestige it granted. They joined in the raids of England and France, and were even part of the pagan "Summer Army." Eventually, in the early 11th century, his family wound up making their way back to the ancestral homeland of Greece, serving as Varangian Guards in the great city of Miklagard (Constantinople). His family stayed in Greece, reintegrating with them, and when Constantinople fell to the Turks in 1453, the few non-military family members remained in the city, for a time, as they had gained some level of prestige. They did eventually flee Constantinople though, first staying with known relatives in England, before eventually, in the mid-1600's making their way to the Americas. At this point, their once pure white coats had been muddied by marriages with non-pegasi, but their wings were still present with every new member of the family, though they were becoming more and more vestigial, and only a handful of the bloodline could still fly. By the time of the American Revolution, the Sleipnirsons had left their political and warrior designs behind them, becoming highly sought after artisans and smiths in the New England colonies, before moving westwards in the 1800's. Alexander's great great grandfather enlisted in the army in 1916, the first to join military in an official capacity since the era of the Varangian Guard. He unfortunately died in 1918, leaving behind only 4 more members of the family: his wife (a non-pegasus Roan), his two children, and his younger sister. They all went off to have families of their own, though one son, Alexander's great-grandfather, perished in WW2. His family was fortunately able to avoid (not through nefarious means) any involvement in either Korea or Vietnam, and the family grew again. Alexander is currently one of five pegasus cousins from three sets of parents, though he is an only child.
