Years ago, I stumbled upon an undocumented photo of a homemade bike-powered elevator. By chance, I found it recently at the beginning of this video showcasing the various inventions of a prolific builder.
This motivated me to design human-powered elevators usable by walking rather than pedaling. The two variants are both based on the differential pulley which offers enough mechanical advantage to avoid the use of a counterweight.
