Quick-draw surges forward, axe raised, the cylinder on his long-arm churns to the left readying another shell. Dead-eye takes aim as hearth-flames erupt from his torn open eye, a shell leaves the barrel to rip apart opposing armor.

Boy its been a while since I've been on here updating my miniatures. Anyways the flames are green-stuff. What I did was create a support structure (small piece of paperclip) glued into place.
Mix up the appropriate amount of green-stuff and begin by forming it roughly to the design (in this case roughly a cone for the front of the gun).
I then used a combination of things, but first let the green stuff firm up a bit, as it takes about an hour to unworkable, give it about 10-15 minutes to be a bit firmer after mixing before you work with it.
A: I used tweezers to pull the green-stuff and twist
B: used a wooden tool that I sucked on for a bit (wood + moisture = doesn't stick) to push and create recesses.
C: Determination...
Really my process can't be explained on the flames, I just played with it till it looks right. Poking, proding, pulling and messing with it. I let it firm up before putting final details on the edge with more green-stuff forming the bullet. The paint helped smooth the rough-details of the green-stuff.
