I like it, I don't think the teeth ruin it,
It looks more creative then all the other wolf/foxes always smiling the same smile,

Personally I think the teeth are hilariously awesome and a great idea from the customer and well executed by you!

I was a little confused about his eyebrows, cause combined with the tooth grin they give him a "Oh crap, what's gonna happen?/ Heh Did I do that?" kinda look.
Looking at the reference though, it must have been exactly what he was looking for because it's the same expression! So KUDOS on such a great interpretation of a reference in another style.
