Well, this took a while, bit at long last I can show off my fursona. Meet CJ Slate! Hoping to get some more art of him relatively soon, but in the meantime, here's some info.

Bio: CJ’s life started out pretty uneventfully. A regular student with a passion for archaeological studies, mythology and paleontology, he eventually grew up wanting to study Archaeology as a subject at university. He made a fair few friends over the years, but the closest one he made was a fellow student named Skye, who stayed with him throughout his academic life and is studying Photography at the same university he goes to. So far, everything seemed to be normal for him.

That all changed during a university-scheduled trip to Egypt, where he and his classmates were taken on a tour through one of the ancient temples recently discovered there. Some of the traps were still active, as someone had steps on a pressure plate that sent a tremor through the temple, causing CJ to fall into a hidden room housing a mysterious item - a golden sphere with an Eye of Horus carved into it. Another tremor sent both CJ and the artifact to the floor, rendering the jackal unconscious.

When CJ awoke, he was in a medical tent outside of the temple, the guide having found him and helped him outside. The class soon finished the tour (with the residents even giving them ankh pendants as a gift), and CJ returned home soon after… and later discovered that he now had a dark-brown marking over his left eye.

Unbeknownst to him, the artifact, known as the Eye of Apophis, had bonded with him on contact, and he now had a mystic power residing deep within him… one that was eager to be used.

Personality: CJ is a calm and loyal young jackal, always looking out for his friends and family and enjoying their time together. Of course, he does have a playful and mischievous side to him, something that became slightly more pronounced after he gained his hypnotic powers, though he’s still nervous about taking them too far, having seen how powerful they can be. He is prone to panicking in situations where he doesn’t know what to do or handling something he has no knowledge of.

Abilities:

- Hypnosis: CJ has the ability to hypnotize people via eye contact using the Eye of Apophis’s power, signified by gold rings appearing in his eyes. By tapping into his magic reserves, he can make it temporarily stronger, allowing him to subdue people with stronger wills.
- Magic: The Eye’s abilities use Old Magic as a sort of power source, and by not using his abilities for a while (or not to their full extent, in the case of hypnotism), the Eye’s magic reserve builds up, allowing CJ to use it for more powerful abilities, though he is still learning most of them. Of course, holding it in for too long causes unforeseen side effects, and eventually that power has to go somewhere…
- Knowledge: Outside of the abilities gifted to him by the Eye, CJ has a keen knowledge of various subjects including biochemistry, paleontology, and various mythologies.
