Shovel-Nosed Zezez
The Zezez are a turtle-like creature that have glowing teeth and a bright mouth to scare off potential threats. Their darker colors help them hide in the waters that they use to maintain their balance and weight as they have no forelegs/arms and are very top heavy.
The nose piece is used to shovel and flip rocks to try to brush through the pebbles and rocks for small invertebrates and fish that it can get ahold of; and while it is big enough to fight a Pepep; they are loud and are needed for this species to not get moss overgrown on their shell. If the moss overgrows then it will start to spread to their vent and once it gets internal in the turtle's body and takes root; it can become a deadly mutation of moss into fungus and that will eat the turtle from the inside out; mistaking it for a dead body. And since the moss decays and dies at 100 degrees, but the turtles only get up to 80 degrees.
Because of this, they depend on the Pepeps to clean their shells and protect them; and can even become very protective to their own personal Pepep, and even hoard multiple Pepeps. As well as hostile towards anything that would threaten them. While mostly passive, this large species is not as intelligent as their moss-cleaners, and therefore do not really make good pets as well as the fact hauling them from the cavern's waters is beyond a pain as they are approx. 8-9 feet tall and those teeth have the ability to bite through metal.
With shorter tempers, lack of intellect, high food and massive cavern water demand for a habitat; they are rare to have as a pet. There is only one person in existence that has one as a pet and he owns his own labyrinth of caves which makes it easy for him to actually care for them.
The buyer remains anonymous for his sake as he does not wish to be bothered about needless questions or people coming and trying to steal his beloved Shovel-Zez (Short for the Shovel-Nosed Zezez.)
While they remain in the water, males will come out and make stances at a female and flash their teeth at females to show their prowess and strength, before teetering back and splashing back into the water as heavily as they can. (The bigger the splash the better).
If she is receptive: he will move to behind her and press his nose piece under her and heft her up, helping push her on a ledge mostly out of the water to hold her weight while he then positions himself to make bbys.
If the cavern is big enough, you can find an entire "Stock"* of them holed up together but typically it is one male and multiple females. In this species the females are the ones that will fight over males as the species is a 3f to 1m statistic which means for every three females that find one male, those three will fight each other and battle it out until 2 back down and one is left the victor to bare the eggs of the male. After a ranking system is set up, it is rather easy to have 3 females cohabitate, but if more females are introduced, the more stressful the environment can be which leads to stomping grounds and if they stomp around after a mating and eggs were lain the chance of eggs getting broken and or injured skyrockets as neither parents are well known to protect the nest site.
To make up for this some Pepeps will actually hoard the eggs, finding them interesting enough to keep safe and even pretend are rare jewels. Some will even try to barter or exchange them with passing humans and a human, not knowing what it is; may end up hatching a baby in a few weeks time.
So please, if a Pepep comes up to you demanding something from you and offering a strange, mucus-lined rock-like thing that feels like a rubber ball if squeezed.... do not accept it without knowing the consequences of such an action!
*(A stock is 3 or more of them in a group.)
RULES: While this is an open species they have some dos and don'ts. Rule one is DO NOT MUTATE THESE AND OR ADD WINGS OR FOREARMS, CLAIM ITS A NEW SPECIES THEN TRY TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF THEM. Despite needing money I put these as free to let people enjoy the species. Don't be an ass and ruin it for others. If I find someone is unofficially selling them and mutating them to sell them and make money I will get the evidence and I will get the courts involved. They are FREE.
Any Adopts will be sold only by this specific account and will only be for Ancients or for things like albinism, and Melanistic as that is a highly rare mutation and needs to be kept as such. Though I probably won't even sell them, I will just hold Free MYO art raffles so you can win a slot once in a while to keep up the rarity.
They DON'T Have wings
They DON'T have forearms of any kind.
They DON'T cross breed (they weight up to 1.5 tons (2+tons for Ancients) So most can't even handle their breeding weight. As well as their 'thing' swells up to a quarter of the size of the male's own shell so I doubt any other species besides the females built for that type of ... size that will expand. As well as they don't thrust. They insert, swell, do their thing, wait up to 10 hours (so yes it takes quite a long time) and then after this, deflate and retreat. The entire session can take up to a day of literally neither one doing any type of movement. This is considered very boring and others will think they are dead if they see them as most times they will both be asleep during this action and let nature subconsciously do it all.
They DON'T mutate to have any other glowing besides the inside of the mouth and the teeth.
They DON'T show hostility to the Pepeps. They can show irritation and have been seen shoveling up babies and yeeting their head back. But with how slow they are, it mostly just flicks the babies up onto the Zezez's shell where they are out of their way to shovel and root around for the food they desire.
They DON'T like humans, as humans usually steal their Pepeps and their eggs so be aware they are not often seen near people long before they uproot tents and humans and all together... and then flick them. The jumbling of all that usually means a human suffers from damage, broken bones, and even death if they aren't just slide over or stomped on.
They DON'T have the ability to live in the gassy areas or near biohazards. So while Pepeps can live near radioactive things, they can not.
They DON'T get mutations, they die when around radiation.
They DON'T do polyamory. While they live together in groups where multiple females at a time, they will only breed with one. The one that has shown to be the biggest and strongest. The rest will be caring for the young, teaching them social skills, and feeding them as the parents (mostly the female) are going to be much weaker and will barely be moving during the first 3 months of the egg laying and the baby's life.
They DO have many color variations of the shells and shell designs.
They DO sometimes press moss onto their shells and wander until they find a Pepep that will clean them and that is typically where they make their home.
They DO live up to 1,000 years. Any species after that will be considered an ancient.
They DO live up to groups of 5 (1 or two males, 2-3 females)
They DO have different shell variations so have fun with them.
They DO have up to 20 babies per clutch so prepare for lots of screaming and chirp-like cries for food and attention.
They DO sing late at night and go from tenor and bass octaves in a type of Overtone singing.
They DO have a chance at living in a Stock of up to 40 (though it is VERY rare) if they happen to find a large, deep enough water source that has moss growing. Sometimes moss won't be growing in a certain water pool, but will start growing moss from what is on the Zezez's shell. (essentially like how birds carry seeds that drop and grow more trees where it falls orr, the moss that scrapes off the shell as they travel topside looking for more water when they get too big for their watering hole or shooed from the family group due to lack of food source; it will create trails where moss will link the two water supplies as if a small, glowing map that Pepep's can find while crawling around and then inevitably following the trail to either the established group or the one that ran off to make their own life. Some will make bonds together and grow up together, but sadly Pepeps do not live as long as Zezez and therefore a Zezez will often grow up while an entire generation comes and grows then dies, and a second, and third.,... fourth, and fifth.
