I want to share an entertaining story about scammers. A person wrote to me on Instagram asking for a commission. His behavior was strange, he asked several questions, the answers to which I gave at the beginning of the conversation. When asked to go to the discord, he said that he did not know what it was. But the most interesting began at the time of payment. ‘Cause when he said he skipped the payment, I checked the account and the money didn’t come. I told him about it and he suggested that I check my spam folder. This immediately seemed suspicious to me, because messages from PayPal never end up in spam, this is an official verified email. Okay, I checked the spam and there was indeed a message.
But the address of the line was not from Paypal, although there was an inscription “Paypal”, the avatar was also not loaded and the message was in English (messages from real Paypal come in the language that is installed on the device. This is not English for me). The message said that I have a limit on Paypal, and in order to remove it, the person must URGENTLY send me more money, and then I will return this money. In general, I realized that this man was a scammer, brought him to clean water with tricky questions, and he stopped writing to me. But this is not the end of my story. A day later, another person wrote to me asking for a commission. He behaved adequately, we had a normal dialogue.
But again, when he had to pay, the situation repeated itself. Exactly the same scheme. I was tired and irritated, so I immediately told him that I did not want to deal with scammers. He immediately deleted his account. And that’s it, the story is over. But a month passes and a new person with the same behavior writes to me again. he also asked me to draw anime, although I draw ponies. This man clearly does not lose hope of deceiving me, although I made it clear from the very beginning that I would not fall for his machinations. And I want to tell other artists, be vigilant and I hope you don’t get caught by scammers)
