On an S-Class mission, young Lisanna Strauss came with her siblings, Mirajane and Elfman, to save a village from a terrible beast with their Takeover Soul magic. While Lisanna evacuated the folks, Elfman became too eager to prove himself and attempted to Takeover the beast during battle. What happened next changed everything.
Elfman’s transformation was successful. Too successful as he not only took on the beast’s form but mind as well, adopting an appetite for destruction. Even Mirajane, his stronger older sister, was unable to quell her brother’s rage Gil from.
Lisanna returned to help and boldly stepped forward in hopes of reaching out to her brother’s gentle soul. She let her guard down in hopes of not provoking the beast and kindly called out for Elfman to come home to them. It seemed to work… for only a second.
A single smack from the beast sent Lisanna flying into the forest to Mirajane’s horror. The pain was so immense that it hardly registered to Lisanna aside from a great numbness upon landing. She laid on the ground facing the night sky with her life flashing before her eyes.
Her mental faculties slowing, Lisanna could only berate herself for just rushing in and thinking she could’ve done a thing. She’d always been the weaker sibling. Even timid Elfman managed to get buff and hold his own despite his low self esteem.
“And yet you risked your life for him all the same…”
Lisanna was too tired to be properly shocked by the smooth male voice. Was it God? Her vision became blanched by a white void. Perhaps this was the end?
“No. It is a new beginning. I haven’t much time but I have seen enough of your heart.”
Lisanna soon saw a handheld device, tech clearly foreign to Fiore, appear in the void just above her in arms length.
“Take this Fusion Loader. What little strength remains will be restored for the battles to come.”
“Lisanna!”
The sound of Mirajane’s distraught voice reached her however muted her ears made it. She could feel her sister shakily hold her hand through the numbness and smiled in some semblance of comfort.
“Stay with me! Please!”
The most Lisanna could do was move her lips. “I feel so strange… It’s like I… I can’t move.”
“Don’t waste your strength,” Mira choked out.
“Where’d you go… Mira?”
“I’m right here,” she heard Mira sobbed. “It’ll be fine. W-we’ll get you patched up a-and look back to laugh at this. Just… don’t move.”
However, Lisanna could tell that moving wouldn’t make a difference in Her state. However, she couldn’t look away from the Fusion Loader as it seemed to beckon her to wield it. What did she have to lose?
“Mira,” Lisanna forced out while moving her arm upwards with some remaining feeling. “I… I just… want you to… know…” Her fingers grasped the device softly when speaking become too tiresome.
The device turned red like her blouse before a green glow from the screen overtook the white void. She felt her body being pulled up from the ground and Mira’s hand skipping out of her right.
She couldn’t make out Mira’s final word but knew a pleading tone when she heard it. It didn’t matter. The afterlife awaited.
Or so she believed.
Her limp body floated through a glimmering void of green and yellow. Slowly but surely, she felt her eyelids getting heavy from the motion. Now she knew how Natsu felt.
She woke up to feel of something shoving her right breast back and forth. What looked like a small dragon was calling out to her and asking if she was still there. Embarrassed by his method of recitation, Lisanna swiped the little guy with her Cat Soul Takeover and leapt to her feet.
She forgot to be embarrassed when she found herself… alive. Yet her magic felt weaker as she reverted to normal. The little dragon was about to give her a piece of his mind when he saw the Fusion Loader that fell out of Lisanna’s hand. His fury turned to fascination when he took it.
Lisanna recognized the device and asked the little guy what it was. Shoutmon, as he introduced himself, questioned how a Digimon couldn’t know about the legendary Fusion Loader. However, Lisanna now had a new question: what was a Digimon?
An explosion cut her off. Realizing she was on a cliff side, she looked out to quite a sight. There was a whole armada of mammoths and metallic eagles that looked nothing short of menacing.
Meeting up with friends of Shoutmon, Lisanna followed along if reluctantly. The Digimon she met were fantastic but the tide of battle turned when MadLeomon leapt into the fray. A fission opened up from an attack and threatened to swallow up Shoutmon and Balistamon.
Lisanna was still fresh from her near death experience and told herself that she couldn’t get involved before finding herself rushing in headfirst anyways. As a Fairy Tail wizard, how could she cower when others needed her.
As she came closer, MadLeomon sadistically let the lamb come to the slaughter. However, he overlooked Shoutmon when he tossed the Fusion Loader to Lisanna and told her to fuse him along with Balistamon.
Lisanna caught the device and saw it activate. As if by instinct, she held it out and yelled, “Digi-Fuse!” The light shone down on Shoutmon and Balistamon, merging their data into one new being. Starmon and his Pickmon crew got in on the action as Shoutmon's Star Sword, allowing the hothead to deal a breaking blow to Madleomon.
It was then the Lisanna realized that, one way or another, she wasn't in Fiore anymore.
That's a basic broad strokes draft for my coming fanfic that will combine Digimon Fusion (super underrated season BTW) with Fairy Tail. Specifically by way of having Lisanna Strauss be transported to not Edolas but the Digital World. In terms of dimensional plain layout, it is in-between Edolas and Earthland. Thus King Faust's Anima spell created breaches in the dimensional barriers.
This is semi-born from a not unpopular disatisfaction with how Lisanna was handled post Edolas. She didn't have to become a main character but more of a focus on her return and what that means would've been a good small scale arc before the game changer that would be Tenrou Island.
It would be a semi spin off in the vein of Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures to Doctor Who where the story would crossover with the main storyline for specific finales like in Series 3 and 4. Without spoiling too much, Liz returns to Earth at the end of the Edolas Arc like Taiki and co. do in episode 29. The face off with Tactimon occurs during the Job rush to apply for the S-Class Trials with an exploration into how her return and potential departure affects Mirajane and Elfman.
If this interests anybody else, I might take the dive into such a crossover. Here's the prologue I drabbled up a while back: https://docs.google.com/document/d/.....XMh8Z0jFc/edit
