A long-dated commission to
Ukyotane. He requested his fursona Seiryu and Beau together in a feudal Japan festival.
Did you know that in Tanabata, a Japanese festival, the festival goers write their wishes in pieces of paper and tie them up in bamboo branches? What would you like to wish for under a bamboo tree branches?

Very nicely done! The vibrance of the coloring is indeed very beautiful.
When I studied in Japan as a college student, we celebrated Tanabata just as you described. The Japanese college students who were our hosts had a great time guiding us through it, as the writing of wishes is usually only done by children up until perhaps age 7 or 8, so I guess it was nostalgic for them. Something akin to an adult doing an Easter egg hunt back in the west, I guess. :)
So, this is a very happy and festive picture that takes me back. Thank you for posting this!
