The little leaf on the nose was such an adorable touch, and your style lent to it so well, that I immediately flashed back to a number of times I've seen similar things in the past. Including once seeing a duckling try to dive in a water dish, only to be confused when it stood back up and had a wet little leaf on its face, heh. Good memories coming from good art. <3
I found one for sale over at a nursery in Vermont last summer when I went with my mother to look at plants. While not cheap it wasn't as insanely priced as I was expecting for how old it was and it's not often you see a Gingko tree for sale. Sadly we didn't have a way of bringing it home safely, nor did we have the funds at the time. But after encountering that one I am happy to see that Gingko trees will survive the winters we get here in my part of NY. So I will get one for the yard eventually. They're too pretty and different to not have one. :)
I am located in Clinton County. I pretty much live on the border going into Canada. If you're used to a city setting with a lot of exciting stuff you can walk to you won't find that here. BUT, if you're one for quiet (for the most part) and wanting to plant gardens then you're in luck. I am no green-thumb myself but I do still like plants and tend to add some of my own liking as long as they fit my mothers color schemes for her flower beds. Though she's the one that maintains them. I try my best to help with other stuff. Luckily enough driving into Vermont isn't a super long drive depending on where you go. :)
That sounds ideal to me. I want somewhere surrounded by woods or forest, not too far from civilization because my partner is disabled and has some pretty intense medical needs, but far enough that I don't have neighbors right up muh butt. The lower property taxes and cheaper housing are also a nice draw. I hear there are some nice college towns up in your neck of the woods that aren't bad.
Personally, I am very much NOT a city gal. My idea of "excitement" is painting, writing, reading, or playing videogames. :P The only thing I might miss from burby life is sushi but I can make some TPT ice cube tray sushi if it comes down to it.

We just acquired 12.5 acres of land that has 3 acres of maintained field and the rest is 9.5 acres of woods. Our current property is only a .5 acre and is pretty much at capacity with what my mother's doing when it comes to the chickens, veggie garden and flower beds. She's always moving things around to accommodate for something else.
The two colleges I know of around here is Clinton Community College which just about everyone going to college defaults to because it's decent and it isn't as insanely priced as other places. Then there's SUNY Plattsburgh which is the better of the two. For places nearest to me there's the William H. Miner Agricultural Institute located in Chazy (pronounced Shey-zee because it's French derived.) But of course they only specialize in stuff related to agriculture.
If property with woods is what you want then property with woods is what you'll get in these parts if you're looking for it. I'm pretty much located in cow country. Luckily enough even with all of the surrounding woods you're not very far away from civilization. The towns are clustered close enough together where they're not too close or too far away from each other. Though I would say the highlight for most looking for it is the lake. One town closest to me runs along part of it. While one of the nicer roads (IMO) in Chazy runs along it as well. I'm not a water dweller, but's it's very lovely to drive down on a sunny day. :)

I can relate. I've gone years having a hard time getting work so I mostly lived on food stamps. But since I live with my parents it wasn't a big deal as I could exchange food related items for gas to get around occasionally. But since I've been working in recent years I have money to do what I want for the most part. But I am currently doing payments on my truck as well as my little tractor my mother helped me cosign for since my credit still isn't the greatest. Coming this July I will have had it for a year. It has been a big help with moving a lot of dirt around as well as heavy items we wouldn't be able to move on our own. So dealing with the reasonable payments is worth it.
We plan to put a much nicer and bigger house on the new property. But that won't be for a while as the price for new houses are absolutely insane. So for now ma has a local farmer keeping the grass/hay mowed on it. We will have to prep the ground and make it more fertile before a house can be put there. There are plans for various large veggie gardens as well as fruit trees now that things won't have to be moved about to make space. :)

Damn! 450K for a tiny house? They must be on something. They don't even use that much building material or man power to make those things in the first place. That just sounds like they're milking the current market conditions. You can still find old stone houses around here from the 1800's on a decent plot for $450K if you look hard enough.
A tiny house was originally meant to be an affordable place to live. Now, like everything, they found a way to ruin it by making it another fad for rich people.

Yeah, pretty much. :\ I was expecting like 30K or 50K, maybe 80K, max, but NOPE. Their reasoning was, more or less: Cost of land, construction, digging out the basement, materials, and wrangling in all the utilities = big big money but for 450K, you could buy a fricken mansion in some states. Hell, like you said, you can get a really nice house for that much further up north IN New York.
Anyhow, trust me when I say I could bitch for hours on end about trying to buy/sell a house these days. It's been a nightmare. But I'll spare you. :P Suffice it to say, it hasn't been an easy time.

I bet. That's why I still live with my parents. I can't afford my own house even with a job and I'm not paying someone $700 a month to live in their trashy apartment. I'll take the $610 a month I already pay for my truck and my tractor along with buying my mother whatever she wants for the gardens over that any day. Both payments are broken up for the beginning and ending of the month so they're easier to pay. I get free weeks in between until the tractor payment comes. :)
