On the 24th I went to my local Pride Fest and whole bunch of fun and felt incredibly happy and free being openly enby with an old friend. Plus two people recognized my Fatal Fury hat!
Everything was wonderful, until I had to go home with my parents.
If you're wondering what their conspiracy theory was: Trans and other gender identities/sexualities were invented by young people because we don't have personalities so we take labels to fake having a personality and it's all made from the government to control people.
If it isn't obvious, my family doesn't accept me as nonbinary. They don't believe it's a real thing, and that Trans people, me, and others are "denying and shaming their biology" by giving ourselves a label. It hurts. It really hurts that I'm not fully accepted by them.
It makes me happy that everyone here online has accepted me as enby without question or fight. I feel more loved and recognized by people I've never met than the people I've known my entire life. Thank you everyone, for being here for me. It means so much.
Also, while I was at the fest, there was a place to write a message with chalk. So I left a little drawing saying, "I hope one day we'll all be accepted without question."
Who knows, maybe you saw it. Probably not, but maybe. Hope that the message comes true.
One more thing.
On the way to the fest, one of my parents said that Pride Fests/Events are just like Trump Rallies.
They didn't elaborate.
One is a celebration for those who've been oppressed.
The other is about one idiotic politician.
I fail to find the similarities.
