An otter pays one last visit to a temple of his childhood.
optional music
Back on track after real life interfered last week. This story felt like it wrote itself. I love thinking about how different species would develop different architectures, so this was a great opportunity to explore that worldbuilding instinct.
As always, any and all feedback is highly appreciated! This is the first time I've focused on writing imagery, so pointers as to how I succeeded or how I could do better are very valuable ^w^

You can never go back. You have a wonderful way with words and of capturing a story in a succinct format.
I suspected he was an urban explorer until the final line which really puts a twist on his feelings, personally destroying the place for which he has such fond memories.
Very well done! Also very appropriate music!

You're far too kind <3
I hope the final line felt earned. It was something of a second try at the final line in All-Nighter, which I worry didn't match the tone the story had been setting. Would love to hear whether this ending fit the story's tone, in your opinion, or if it was still too much of a leap. Either way, I'm glad it resonated with you ^w^
Thanks so much for your thoughts, Celtic. I always look forward to your feedback <3

Urbex is one of the strangest cocktails of emotions you'll ever find. Highly recommend it if you ever have the chance. There are plenty of places that are very safe, and plenty of interesting people who've found and mapped them. It's a truly unique experience.
Your words mean a lot. I'm very much an amateur at conveying emotion like this, so any hint that I'm on the right track is worth more than anything <3 (And of course, any feedback if you feel that some parts could've been better).
(Also, apologies for not responding sooner! Last week was a struggle, and I'm just getting to my backlog now.)

Maybe I'll give exploring a try sometime then. If for no other reason than to get some experience to write a bit about it!
And you're certainly on the right track. Can't wait to see more from you and maybe give some feedback from time to time.
(Also, don't worry about that one bit. Life is so busy and there's so much to read. I know that struggle.)

I'd love to hear how it goes! There's a wonderful zine called Access All Areas by a venerated member (now deceased) of the urbex community that I cannot recommend enough. Has lots of practical advice about safety and the gear needed to get started. If you're interested, I'm more than happy to share my copy ^^
I'm so glad to hear it -- in general, but particularly from you. I always look forward to reading your work, so it's flattering to think that you might enjoy mine as well. I'd absolutely love your feedback, if you ever have the time to give it!
