Poor Shir Scrabble is usually left with hir relatively low-level service job; currently bouncing in between waitressing and fry-cooking for the local ubiquitous SCP-tier restaurant chain as the situation demands. It hardly pays well, and with the planet and hir particular region rather infamous as a tourist hotspot, shi's often hit with rather asinine customer loads and a whole host of various unsavory characters. After all, hir restaurant is part of the 'affordable' end of things, not the classy and high-end kind that actually pays well and protects the staff. All too often, while shi has a smile on the outside shi's SKREM-ing on the inside as shi deals with demands and situations that nobody really should be put through.

At least the store is relatively friendly to non-humanoid body plans, due to being built on one of the Piers, though that just adds further complexity and annoyance to hir job as shi has to juggle between the many levels trying to cover hir area, and often ends up down at the water level, dealing with the aquatics and others who come in off the water. With the space to at least turn around, it's not the worst job that shi's been forced to work, but the stress is getting to hir as the hollow look develops in hir eyes. The worst part is that shi can hardly remember how many times shi's even cycled through jobs like this, an almost eternity that's faded from hir memory-span like so many teardrops in the rain. It's not even like shi really has the resources to make a break for the frontier. The last time shi tried, shi... shi...

Why can't shi remember what happened, and why does it make hir head hurt right between the eyes as hir hearts race?
