Really? That pleases me greatly to know. My own memories of fairs at that age are pretty impressionistic, and have a lot to do with horses, straw, mud, and coloured fluorescent tubes.

This is a huge travelling fun and agricultural fair that sets up in the middle of the city for two weeks every year :) The photo really is atmospheric, though. There's always been something that fascinates me about internally lit things in the dark. That's where part of my fascination with vending machines comes from too.

The inside of the vending machine seems somehow like a separate reality to me, especially at night, when it's lit with fluorescents. There's a tiny little world in there, enclosed in the glass.

The camera deserves more credit than I do, really. I love the sky in this picture. It wasn't really as late as it looks, but the clouds were rolling along in the twilight, and it was just beginning to spit rain, a few scattered drops here and there.
