Grandpa's Final Message - Thursday Writing Prompt Poem
This week's prompt was "An old man talking to a child about writing". I took a little bit of a creative liberty with this one, and made it generally about life, I'll admit. Hopefully the judges will allow it.
***
Unclench your fists.
Take a breath.
Those thoughts, those feelings,
those emotions are dead.
That was long ago.
It is not now.
Don’t forget you’re a different person.
Don’t forget how
you’ve grown and matured,
how much has learned,
everything that’s been earned
through tears, sweat, blood.
All the good deeds that you’ve done
has built a better person
than you were back then.
So, take a deep breath,
shake off those bitter yesterdays
and stand.
