I've yet to see Umineko, and I doubt that we're going to be watching it in Anime society here..... but I have to agree that I love it as well, despite the creepy nature of it :D
We've got to the second season of it, I think....... we watched episode 26 today, end of the arc where Rena has her spree of crazy, if that helps remember storyline positioning at all
I've also been able to get the 2 seasons currently available to me from Ben, the former secretary who has all of the anime we watch anyway :P

The actual second season is Kai, the studio that did it, DEEN, adapted the main question/answer arcs in a weird way.
Those last two arcs, Shion going batshit, and Rena going batshit, are answer arcs that are supposed to be a part of Kai, but ended up smushed in with season 1.

Yeah, the order is still technically the same, just that the arcs themselves are rushed compared to the sound novels they're based on. The 2nd season arcs (minus the anime-only one) are slower paced enough to get a bit more story in.
Mmyes Shion's Distinction left a few jitters for me, since the only gore that I can't stand is related to fingernails or teeth DX
Though either Satoko's crucifixion (especially uncut) or Rika's knife scene tie for me, in terms of massively-disturbing-yet-awesome scenes in that arc.
