I finished this in time for Art Fight! Just barely. I decided after two and a half years that it was time to update the design of my primary dragon OC, Predatoria (who's real dragon name is Kiearra).
Here she is! I have noticed when I draw her I tend to want to keep shading her these purply indigo blue/grey black kind of colors rather than going with a dark black dragon, so I embraced it and made this her official color palette now.
I also experimented with a warmer, orangish belly to compliment her eye and really liked it.
She's got stripes, just as in several of my more recent pictures of her, but I rethought where they're placed a bit as I felt the wing stripes were a tad too busy.
I updated the features on her face, replacing the eyebrow scales with frills, which help enhance the expression of the character! I also replaced her spike crest with a long dragon frill that runs to the tip of her tail. It certainly was nice to add to the blacker back with this frill spine.
Her anatomy is heavily feline-inspired, but this time around I feel like she has a much more dragon-like shape. Her neck and abdomen are a lot longer than I've drawn in the past, and I think it helps feel more dragoney.
I, of course, will still likely experiment with her design a bit in the future, but for now, this is her canonical look!
I hope you all like my character update, complete with a nice sheet I made!

Thanks! And most definitely not. I have a rule where I don't go edit my past works. They're complete and done. New works from here moving forwards only!
Though, I will say, I think my design was already leaning towards this in some of my more recent renditions of my character anyways. She was getting very grey/stormy black blue ish like this already, and I had been experimenting with stripes and counter-shading the belly area.

Yeah I've noticed they've gradually been changing over time which each art of them, that much is true!
But yeah, new design does shine more, I wonder if you have a in-lore reason for why they turned more blue and their belly lightened up, as well as their tails merging together?

I sort of do! The way I think of it is sort of like this:
I don't actually know exactly what Predatoria looks like. I think I may remember what she looks like, but the details aren't exact and sometimes I may mis-remember or recall things that may've been quite different.
Rather than hard-defining the character, I just say the way I'm drawing her is my current memory of what I think she may be. That way, the character truly isn't what's changing. My memory of her just got a bit sharper!
I'm like "Ah yes! You know what, I think I do remember her having stripes on her sides, and she did have a frill spine on her back."
Predatoria also is the first dragon I've drawn in my whole life. I have been learning to do art by drawing her. When I first set out on my journey to learn to draw dragons, I had no idea how to draw a pattern or give her any markings or colors beyond just coloring her black. I have learned how to color and shade more intricate characters, which means I've been able to make her design a bit more intricate than it was in the past!
