This is Melledre, my night elf Death Knight. It took her a long time after she was freed from Arthas's control, but she was finally able to start feeling emotions other than hatred and rage. Her heart is still frozen, and thawing it out hurts. She feels nothing that doesn't cause her pain, and now she is grieving for all that she has lost, and for all that was lost to those she loved most. She can't bring herself to go back home, to people she whose names she has forgotten and faces are a blur, especially knowing how likely it is that the ones who loved her have not forgotten her for a moment.
More TL;DR description, I know, but I'm trying to give a little more insight to what makes my characters tick. XD

Well thank you. XD I like the night elves better than other kinds of elves, but I'm secretly a girly girl so I've kind of always liked elves at least a little. XD
As for issues... she's got issues out the wazoo, but it kind of can't be helped at this point. If I ever get her full story written out or illustrated you'll see why, but it involves some pretty gruesome things happening at the time of her death, and of course there's bitterness over being used as a Death Knight.

I imagine so, and dislike for elves or no (In most settings they seem rather pompous, and think they're better than everyone else) that's the kind of character I like. Broken characters, the ones with deep issues, are always my favorites. They're just so much more interesting. Most of my protagonists have or develop some kind of deep emotional and/or psychological problem.
Same here. I have some characters that just have a fairly normal life, with standard joys and tragedies, but my more interesting characters almost always have something seriously fucked-up happen to them. For some of them it does end up being the defining point of their personalities, for others it's just part of what shaped them, and for some of them they can shrug off a lot of stuff before they finally start finding it difficult to handle.
Yup, all depends on the character. Most of my plots revolve around characters who either already have some major issues, or those on a slow decline. A fair few come to fatal conclusions. My favorites are the slow declines though, the descent into madness and/or despondence. Though the character who I'm most on right now has already, by the time of the plot, finished the decline, growing up in a ghost town after the other inhabitants were slaughter by demons, and she's gone semi-feral. I like her.
