I took my 95 Yukon GT and rebuilt the engine, did all sorts of things to it, The final product of this hard work, a blown rear differential! so stock parts plus 400ft pounds of torque = sheering of metal bits!

It could be more than that, I havent taken it to the dino yet. More or less I'm looking for a daily driver with a bit of power. I dont want to suck down the gas to quickly now. Also another thing to concider its a TBI with non vortec heads. If I change the heads... then I can free up lots more power

As soon as I saw the thumbnail I thought GMC 12 bolt posi :/ The 12 bolts (8.875 ring) are good axles, I have a few sitting around, but the posi unit, along with the 14 bolt (9.5 ring) posi are the worse carriers I've worked with. Nice for a daily driver with mild power, but not much more over that. The stronger option is either a open diff with a Detroit locker (not a mini spool, those snap like twigs) or a good air locker or cable locker. In most cases I see these carriers explode on the highway after some abuse, I dunno why they didn't go during the trial ride, but doing 75 on the high, then boom, usually takes out the housing. I can't remember gmc's name for this diff, torq-tract? Oh well, have fun :)

All I have sitting around is a set of 3.08s and maybe a 3.50ish, not sure. If its a daily driver a strait locker or a minispool would hurt, it eats tires and tend to snap axle shafts and wear out U-joints. The only things that I've seen fix this problem is a air-locker or a Dana 60, but the air-lockers runs $500 and a Dana 60 about $500 to $1000. You can also go with a open diff with a lock right, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PWT-1921-LR/ I've never used one, but I hear good things about them, it would definitely fix your problem and will take 350 - 450 hp easy with a good set of tires, like 33-12.50-15s, or your yukon probably takes 16's, the axles tend to snap around 400 hp with anything bigger and a low gear like 4.10s. Also might want to look into c-clip eliminators, if you upgrade the diff and snap a axle, the whole shaft will come out at the worse time, usually on a fast turn :/
