Imagine if dial turning doesn’t send them back but rather hatches the time egg into different form depending on what period is set with prehistoric being pterodactyl that breath time energy and future form being more advanced creature (with varieties time bending powers of course) and only reason why they are there is because some one decide destroy egg that somehow led them being transported to that time was due fact they were sent to different dimension where egg was originally from.
