The title of Matriarch is viewed as one of divinity in Salvatica, just as the title of Monarch. However, a Queens only authority over the nation is the sway she holds over her king. From the very start, the title of 'Matriarch' has been one of complexity. When the title of Monarch was created, and Exeter was chosen to sit atop the throne, it was decided that Adriel, one of Exeter's partners during the revolution, would serve as his Queen. It was a blow to the wounded hearts of both, as their affections laid elsewhere. The role of Matriarch undefined during the early years of the Monarchy, Devon, King Monarchs The II took 16 brides, making them all his Queen. It wouldn't be until Inisha, Queen Matriarch the XVIII that laws were passed limiting the number of women who could hold the title of Queen to a single individual at a time.


Parmellia, Queen Matriarch The XXI would later form a strong bond between the Royal Guard organization and the crown of Matriarch in the ashes of a Salvatica that had barely survived nuclear assault by Felonia. Taking advantage of the exemption from all forms of authority save from Monarchs that Inisha had secured for the crown of Matriarch, Parmelia was able to build the Royal Guard organization into a powerful paramilitary force that answered only to her. With this force on her side, she successfully rebooted the nation. All Matriarchs since have kept their alliance with the Royal Guards strong. Cessillia is no different, which is why tensions are at an all time high in the capitol. Cessillia and Durval vowed to further advance Salvatica into an advanced nation that would move into the future as a broker of peace. Instead, Durval seemingly threw all this away when he sacraficed the army that General Cagan Lapis had built for him to Felonia. Cagans army was unlike anything Salvatica had ever seen, and comprised largely of rodents and felines seeking full Salvatican citizenship. It had been possible only because Cagan had married Cessillia's cousin, and the two pleaded with her to convince Monarch to form the force. Unfortunately a few words from Noric and the army was betrayed. When Durvals actions became too much for Cessillia to bear and she openly rebelled, Monarch had her jailed, again at Norics suggestion.
