Therapist said I had my shit so together that I probably wouldn't need therapy anymore in a few months and needless to say that's entirely incorrect. ha. haha.

TLDR: Get a better therapist
I been through 11 therapists in 4 years.
I can say this. Problems happen, we all handle things differently. I don't know that therapist's reasoning and quite frankly, not interested. Most medical professional are still people, and people are wrong sometimes. It just means you gotta go try another one is all.
This latest one I had, helped me move on with my (insert traumatic event here cause I don't want to depress anyone) in not only just emotional ways, but they also helped me with counsel for big life choices that took me weeks to make. This may sound like I am flaunting, but no. I am saying this because the previous 2 before them after giving each 4 months (seperately) of over 1000 dollars, were not even close enough to help that this one was.
Would say more, but I don't want to feel like I am giving a lecture when I genuinely just want to see you not suffer alone in this matter is all
One of the biggest quotes there is. "Therapy takes time" both the client and therapist need to be willing to give each other time for this to work, if neither of you agree it's done. Then frankly, it's not done.
You can even google it yourself:
"how long does therapy take"
Therapy can last anywhere from one session to several months or even YEARS.

he's been incredible up to this point even tho he himself hasn't really taught me any coping skills as i've been accidentally stumbling into them myself. I've trusted him deeply for at least a year now but saying that i won't ever need therapy again was a huge hit to the chest. and wildly inaccurate. it just taught me that i got too good at masking my pain that he thought i wasn't hurting anymore
Don't get me wrong, not everything they said is inaccurate, but to make an obvious example, weatherman can't be right all the time.
masking may be a possibility that we subconsciously do, but that comes back to the original statement, it's got to be a mutual agreement that both parties agree that therapy is working or not.

All I can say to that is to be sure you express that with them, let them know you are certainly not ready and still need their help. The more you express the more they have to work with. It is hard to do, but you truly want to unmask your self in sessions. Hell, I'd recommend showing him this art to help illustrate your concerns. Art is an incredibly helpful tool for a good therapist.
Are you going to a trauma therapist or just a therapist. get a specialized therapist, not a run of the mill guy. they'll hel;p better.
if he was a trauma therapist, he's in SO much wrong here, your client SHOULD be the one to tell you they're done with therapy, not you.
even if it's 3 years from now, you need to make that call not them. they can only advise you that they think youre ready.
wtf, im so sorry this is so messy.

Ugh, therapy isn't something that just stops because the doctor decides to - it really should be up to you if you feel ready for stopping as you'd feel better etc. Cause you'd be back where you start if you suddenly have a fall-back, and have no one to talk to or bring it up to or.. yeah. Get a better therapist who cares for you. :C This sucks, and my entire library of hugs to you! ;w;
