Name: Ember "Emma" The Whisper
Race: Tiefling Female
Class: Rogue
Background: Charlatan
Lore: Ember always felt special but not in the sense of a good honest person. She was raised as an orphan in a poor town by the local church. The nun named her Emma yet always treated her as a troubled child. She was told her mother was a whore who escorted herself for food or spare coin. They believed she made a deal with a devil in exchange for a favor and Emma was the result. Though Emma never understood the concept of good and evil or at least she didn't listen to the religious text forced upon her. She tried to pray to the deity but believed there was no response. When she started to notice the wax candles flicker as she became enthralled by the flames. Emma would stare at flickering fires for hours and even put her hand so close to realize it didn't burn her. She would steal tinderboxes and lanterns to hoard in her room so she could burn pages in awe. When the head mother found out, Emma was dragged to the back of the room and flogged for her arsonist nature. That's when Emma's hellish rebuke lashed out at the nun and set her ablaze. Emma watched her fall onto the tapestry setting the room on fire. She rushed out in a panic and stumbled outside to see the church engulfed in flames. A few villagers came towards the blazing building and saw Emma with a smile of joy. They chased her out of the town. Emma searched around to find a warm spot to get away from the muddy ditches or cold nights. Until she met a man hanging in a cage and left to die for his crimes. The man begged her to set him free with the promise of returning the favor. Emma accepted the deal and discovered he was a con-man scamming people of their valuables. She stuck to the con man for a long time and learned how to survive by stealing and using her charm to deceive people. She hated her old name wanting to change it to reflect her true nature, thus calling herself Ember. Her favorite way to distract people was to always set something on fire, just enough time for her to swipe their coin purse.
