The Protogen sat on a tall arch, watching people below wander around below him on the space station.
Swinging his legs in the void beneath him, humming a strange tune. He wasn’t worried about being seen, his nature made cameras blind for him, they could never really spot his figure sneak around.
He quickly pounced onto his feet as he saw his target. The figure was walking through the masses of people. Despite his target being different from everyone, the target melted into the masses.
Just as a professional, he hasn’t lost his touch. Glitch grimaced for himself, it wasn't easy to track the target.
The invisible finding the shadow.
He swiftly descended from the arch. Keeping his distance, weaving in and out between people, carefully not making his presence known to the target.
Running on all fours along a railing, watching his target in the distance casually wandering along a raised catwalk.
Glitch looked around, spotting a few cameras. Easy to hack to track his target, but that could risk his target notice he is being followed.
He watched an automatic moving platform approach him. It hovered in the air not far from his position. Swiftly with his strong legs he leapt onto the platform, grabbing the edge and climbing aboard. To his satisfaction this one had only some random boxes and crates.
He made his way to the control panel, it was locked behind various passwords and bio-locks, only to open to someone specific.
He gently touched the panel, its holo interface began glitching out. The random blocks of glitched graphics started collecting together into a normally incoherent mess, but Glitch knew what he was doing. The platform stopped, then with a hum started moving backwards along its pre-planned route, fast approaching his target and the elevator the target was walking towards.
Moving over to the guard rail, watching an old maintenance catwalk appear in the dark corners of the space station. The moment he leapt off the railing and onto the unprotected catwalk, the platform returned to its intended route, with no log of what happened, just corrupted data.
Clambering onto the catwalk, heights were still uncomfortable, he crawled into the maintenance tunnels going around the habitat in the station.
Pressing his hand on the structure before him, he felt the rumble of the elevator inside the elevator tunnel. Feeling where it was travelling, not interfering with its travels, it was carrying a valuable target.
He felt air rush from the vent at his feet. The elevator pod was pushing a lot of air before itself, clearly some maintenance had been missed.
The vent was open, he waited for the correct timing to sneak aboard.
In the blink of an eye he disappeared in a trail of glitchy light. Suddenly he found himself hanging from the structure under the elevator pod, he was happy with his achievement.
Silently the pod stopped, clicked its locks in place, perfect opportunity to sneak out another ventilation vent into another service tunnel, just between apartment floors. His visor showed him where the apartment he was looking for was, also the approximate location of his target.
-
Finally in the apartment. Simple single large room, in the middle a low table with a large couch surrounding it in a half circle. The open end of the couch crescent facing a large screen on the wall, which was currently off. Opposite end had drapes that hid a large bed. Some walls were decorated with closets and cupboards.
Glitch currently watched the inhabitant working in the corner kitchen next to the main door carefully.
“Took you long enough” The figure spoke. Taking a basket filled with various cans with various drinks.
Roe, the mechanically winged raptor turned and tossed a can at the Protogen standing on the table. Glitch chuckled and grabbed it and hopped onto the couch, making himself comfortable.
Roe walked across the room with the basket. Placing it down on the table and grabbing himself a drink. Relaxing his wings as he climbs on the same couch.
Enjoying the silence for a moment, the two old friends relaxed for a few, letting the universe spin along its track.
Glitch stretched along the couch, resting his feet on Roes lap. With mild amusement, “You needed my help? Or did you just come to use me as a footrest?” Roe inquired.
“Mmm, why not both!” Glitch laughed.
-
Glitch got up, shuffled about and laid his head on Roes lap. He started purring as Roe gently rubbed behind his ears, relaxing in his lap.
Roe chuckled with amusement at the happily squirming Protogen.
“Been busy hunting rogue computers?” Roe inquired
“As long as people keep making them.” He stated. “Tho i did step on some toes, half the empire wants some strange hacker dead.” Glitch chuckled while sipping on his drink.
“What made you hunt me down?” Roe asked. Glitch was thoughtful for a moment.
“I heard a rumour, you’ve been causing quite a stir with the Felines. BReaking into their temple ship, that's true?”
“Twice, actually. Had to kidnap their princess the first time, second time I had to hijack it and blow it up from the inside.” Roe calmly drank from his can.
“Good!” Glitch exclamation happily. “I’ll need you to get me into a massive ship. I have no idea where it is or how to get inside!”
Roe grabbed the protogerns visor, shutting him up. “We’ll talk business later, I know you’re excited to get to work. But it’s been a few years.”
Glitch laughed in response as Roe released his face. “True, true.”
