Did a bit of an art-trade might be one term, or... maybe fanart is a fitting term. The lovely Watcher12, over at https://www.furaffinity.net/user/watcher12/ wrote a little fanfiction of the kitsune streamer Jo, so I did an illustration!
Here is their awesome story!
Jo the Kitsune was just about finished with making her supper. Due to some issues with her landlord and an argument she got into with someone at the grocery store, she was behind on making this, may not be even able to eat all of it before she had to get on for another gaming stream.
"Dumb old fart..." She was grumbling quite a bit, "... How does having more than one tail mean I magically knock over some cans I was nowhere near?..." as she stirred the rice in the tiny pot with her massive hands, almost pressing the pot into the iron it was cooking on. "..What am I gonna do with all those dented cans of peas? I don't even like them."
There was a knock on the door while she was in the middle of adding more chicken stock to the rice dish. Jo growled a bit as the flaming light above her and in her eyes grew brighter, but then she sighed as she stepped away from the stove. "This better not be the landlord again."
She opened the door and peaked through the door frame. No one was there... Jo looked a little closer, but there was no one around the doorway; then she realized a box was left at her doorstep. It was a really large box too. She's gotten a few packages once and a while with a few tiny things, in fact she's accidentally broken those things once before. This package... this was actually one that was big enough for her paws to hold properly. There was also some weight to it that got her curious.
Jo bent down and her horns banged on the door, much to her discomfort. She grit her teeth, trying not to swear, and then bent her knees as well as her back. She picked it up and looked it over. This package was delivered to Jo, but the signage used her name from streaming, and it had dozens of stamps on it. Seems someone really wanted her to have it. She turned the box a few times as she carried the box inside, and then sniffed the air and realized she left the stove on. "Oh crap!"
Running back to the kitchen, Jo took the pot off the stove and stirred the pot and tried to save it, but she was scraping the rice off the bottom.
"Great, just great!" She growled as she set it down, "Why did I even bother?"
She tried to serve herself what was left into a bowl then left her supper to cool. She saw the time, and realized she had even less time before the stream, and just buried her face in her paws. Her eyes fell back on the package, "What worse could really happen?" Jo said with a sarcastic frown, "Let me guess, some bills or a bunch of ads?"
She cut the tape with her claws, then opened the box. Once done, Jo had to also take out some old newspapers, and found a gaming controller. It wasn't like the ones from the store though. This controller was big, so big that Jo picked it up and could casually use it with both of her paws. The wires and were sod into place and multiport for different gaming consoles... It was clear who ever sent this didn't know what she was gaming on, so just tried to make it for all of the game consoles, it even seemed to have buttons for all of them, in the order of her usual game controller. The plastic shaping and resin craftmanship, it was really smooth, and the paint work that was put over it all blended together. The paint job wasn't just a coating of black or white either, it was blue brighter than Jo's fur, and with patterns of black and purple to make it seem like her fox tails were wrapping around parts of it, as well as flames for other parts of it. Jo felt the controller in her paws and tried out some of the buttons, and thought to grip it tight, the controller didn't make a noise, it seemed really sturdy.
Then ran to her console to try and connect it... The console turned on, and... it took a moment for her controller to work, then a light turned on in the controller and it started to cooperate with her game... it was even easier with a controller meant for her paws. She smiled wide and excited, then her head banged on the ceiling as the room became smaller. As usual, she grew bigger and had to duck down a bit to make sure that flame between her horns didn't set the ceiling on fire. As she adjusted herself, resting the controller between her lap, sure it was smaller for her, but it still had that size to it where she could manage it between her big paws.
Jo smiled brightly with a quivering lip and wagging tails, but set her controller down and crawled back to the box, "Who sent this to me? How did they even get something like this."
She looked in the box, but there seemed to be nothing else... then she checked the balled up newspapers.. and found an envelope. She opened it up, and it was like a small letter inside.
"Hiya Jo, I know you have some issues with playing games, I watch your streams and seeing you try is a lot of fun. Still I wanted to do something nice so you could enjoy the games more. I hope this doesn't come across too creepy just having a stranger shipping something to your home, it was just easy to do when people on social media post about you in their neighborhood, and those few times where you would rage during your games.
I'll leave you be from here, if you wish, I promise. I just wanted to do something that I thought you might like and would really help you. I got to work with some friends to make this controller for you, and we tested it ourselves before sending it to you. I hope you have fun with it.
- Marshal G.R."
Jo's eyes were a little watery reading the letter, and her tails were wagging about and repeatedly brushing against the ceiling. She took the letter over to her gaming set up and set it beside the monitor. It was just about time to stream, "I could just eat my supper during the loading screens, I guess.."
She smiled and rubbed her eyes a bit, then she got her gaming her mic and new controller ready.
The stream started, but not with her usual opening, "Hey guys, It's your kitsune girl Jo again. And... I have got to admit, I was thinking to cancel today just for.. just for how much of a rough day it's been."
Jo saw some of the starting comment, "No no, I'm not going into detail about it... Well, except for one thing, the thing that got me to keep at it and start the stream like normal."
She then held up the new controller to the camera, "Someone actually went through a lot of effort, and both made this and shipped it out to me."
She looked to the responses from people and giggled, "I know, the colors on it are a bit messy, but this actually feels nice to hold. Plus, I now have a game controller big enough for my hands. No more accidentally mashing buttons."
Jo smiled as she saw the responses but none of them seemed to be with the name or username from the package. "Whoever sent me this, and you know who you are, thank you so much..."
She sat back and rested the controller on her tap, tails curled by her legs and paws. "...Now, how about we start this stream? I am so ready so ready to hunt some monsters now..."
