This is one of the saddest days a father has to face. I held my son Tecumseh (black wolf) the day he was born and today I held him for one last time. The back half of his body began to partially fail him in December '10 and got to the point where is was failing daily. It would have permanently failed him shortly and he would have been helpless in the snow.
It is the happiest and saddest honor a father can have is to welcome a child into the world and have to help him leave it with dignity. He was a great wolf and I will miss his voice. Run happy and free my son.
Love Dad.

Sorry to hear about your loss I know how attached you can become to them! (HUG)
I do understand your feelings... Both of my Malamutes are getting up in years and I know their time with me is not going to be much longer. My younger female is starting to have issues with her hips. My male is 12 and my female is 9.

I sympathize with your pain of loss. It is better to help them part with dignity before it becomes a suffering thing. I had to do that with my oldest female ferret a few years ago. She had almost no teeth and was getting to where she couldn't eat. I'd rather not let her suffer from starvation. You made the right choice, my friend. *hugs tight*
