I guess these few years in America in my childhood might’ve contributed to where I am now, other than that, I just picked the words and grammar up in movies or TV shows.
Grammar was always really boring, no matter the language (had French too in high school), I just couldn’t be bothered a lot of times with it.
German is a very complex language on a lot of levels, especially when it comes to different cases with the words (der, die, das etc.), which many foreigners can only guess which one to use. Hell, I don’t even know myself how to explain that stuff. It’s complicated, and that’s me saying that as a native speaker.
