race reporter: SHAWN SKUNK IN #51, FERRARI WINS LE MANS!
it was an important day for Ferrari that was pretty much 50 years in the making and 50 years was exactly how long it would be since Ferrari's last season of racing in prototype class competition back in 1973, from that point on Ferrari would build prototype class race cars for privateer racing teams but never to race officially as a works team in FIA or IMSA sports car competition.
that all eventually changed when Ferrari announced back in 2021 that they will returning to FIA sports car racing in 2023 competing in the WEC's new hypercar prototype class, a new category that caters to gas-electric hybrid race cars, and thus Ferrari unveiled their new hypercar class race car, the 499P.
(now to be super clear here, what you're seeing here is not the Ferrari 499P race car, this is the Ferrari VGT (Vision Gran Turismo) painted with the official 2023 Ferrari team livery on GT7, the short explanation here is that images of the 499P were kinda hard to find online that I could save, I only two or three that I could save and that was it, and I didn't really have much of the spare time needed for me to do an art piece of it due to my busy schedule draining any creative energy out of me, so I just went GT7 farmed credits and bought this Ferrari VGT and slapped this livery on it and did a photo shot of it at the 24 Hours Du Mans track or Circuit De La Sarthe as it's actually called last I checked and walah, the closest variation to the 499P as I can get, back to the story, but if you're curious to see the real thing here's a picture right here: https://foto.newsauto.it/wp-content.....-Le-Mans-7.jpg )
the car was developed under supervision and guidance FCA's newest member and Alfa Romeo team driver, Shawn Skunk, who took up Ferrari's offer to help develop the car, cause who better to develop a Le Mans winning race car than the man who won Le Mans just seven years before back in 2016 and would most likely have plenty of experience and insight onto what it would take to put Ferrari back in the prototype class winner's circle at Le Mans.
car #51 (as pictured here) would be driven by the young Animalian, Shawn Skunk, and two Italian drivers, Antonio Giovinazzi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonio_Giovinazzi), and Alessandro Pier Guidi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alessandro_Pier_Guidi), with Shawn Skunk bring it to the checkered flag and helping Ferrari make history.
well done you guys, job well done.
after their Le Mans 24 hour victory Shawn has been rewarded with an offer from FCA and Ferrari for him and his team to drive for them in 2024, after all, success deserves reward, we have to hear any news on whether or not he will accept but it's probably likely he will, he's just a little to focused with trying to run a successful season with his current manufacturer, Alfa Romeo.
this was a month overdue for me and the reason why that is because I missed this year's Le Mans 24 hours event and it wouldn't until July this month that I found a full length re run video of the race and finally got to see it which means I finally got to update my fursona's story line for the first half of this year so far and it's been a good year for FIA racing as far as I can see, so here's to the best season of racing and I hope you all enjoyed the photo and the story written for it :3
the full race here, if you see Ferrari #51 on track, it's most likely Shawn ;3
