I’m so excited to present my gooey symbiote oc, torrent! this is the first fully detailed character I’ve shared here so I’m really excited to explain my goo dog to you.

• torrent is a symbiote - when he came to earth, one of the first things that caught his eye while he was slithering around in his original goo form was a doberman and immediately latched onto that design. his genetics allow him to accompany ONE form outside of his goo form without a host so this is the one he chose to copy. a bit like a shapeshifter, but he has one chance to basically carve the shape into his memory. this is the only extra form he can take on without a host; it’s part of him now. on his home planet, his species wait until they reach a certain age to choose their one extra form and celebrate that new identity within themselves with a huge ceremony.

• he abandoned his home planet in search of new beginnings and dreams of exploration and ended up crash landing on earth after attempting to repair what he thought was a satellite. he wanted to see the difference in mechanisms compared to other planets but it was actually a rocket…he essentially hitched a ride without knowing. no one could see him, he was just a ball of goo!

• torrent stands about 6’7” in this canine stance. his ‘fur’ is actually slippery to the touch and can catch a shine if in direct sunlight. any markings that look like fur on this reference sheet (for example, around his crotch) are not soft, they still have a goo texture. he is just very good at copying details from sight so they stick out like fur ya know? he may not look gooey at first glance but he is rubbery and gooey to the touch.

• his tongue is very long. it can stretch down to his collarbones. it’s gooey too; sticky and yellow.

• he does not have a feral doberman form, this anthro form is the only version he can take on in regards to his ‘one extra form without a host.’ he does tend to make use of all-fours ways of, for example, running though despite this. he is just very animalistic when he finds it appropriate/an easier way to operate.

• all of the marks you see on him in this ref sheet also appear on him in his blob of goo form. they won’t be in the same places etc. obviously but they are spread throughout his original black slime. his ‘blood’ is that green splatter you see in the middle on the sheet - ‘pop’ him and that will come out.

• the origins of his name describe his core personality a little bit I think: after exploring in his dog form on earth without realising he should probably hide himself, people began to notice him and panic - as expected. they were shouting about a “tyrant in town” and he had no idea what they were talking about. after finding his way and exploring some more, he came across a library in the dead of night. he found a dictionary, looking up what he thought they were saying and therefore going straight to the ‘T’ section. “ah, that must be what they were saying! that would be a cool name though actually.” the word he found wasn’t tyrant…it was torrent :<

now let’s get into the good stuff. in other words, the reason why I made a goopy character in the first place. ‘transformation’ is what I think this comes under in the furry community? I’m not sure but I’ll explain and someone can tell me if I’m right haha.

• torrent can bond platonically, sexually or otherwise romantically with another being. he must have a strong connection to them first before bonding, sometimes he can bond with a strong sense of negative emotions too though. it just depends on the situation and/or the being he has targeted.

there are a few different ways he can form with another being:

• he can splat in his goo form on top of their body and spread himself out around them, engulfing them inside of his dog form. he can still communicate with them in there telepathically *or* he has the power to silence them if the connection that allowed them to bond was negative (for example, hatred.) by silencing, I mean he can absorb their body fully - killing them in a similar way to digestion. he can take on the form of his host after bonding in this way; it’s easier for him to do that if he silences the host however.

• if the connection is made in a positive sense, he is able to allow another being to absorb him instead. his goo lays in their system without causing harm, like a benign element. he can exert enough energy to simply seep into the skin or save time and energy by having the being swallow his goo form. the host can keep their outer appearance and he rests inside the body. it’s good for him to replenish energy on a planet that doesn’t cater to him. he can communicate telepathically this way too of course - he is inside the host’s head here whereas, if they were engulfed by him, he would be speaking out loud to them and they would be speaking to him inside his head. he can also control their movements from inside the host but doesn’t like to do that without their permission.

• he can splat himself onto the body without engulfing them whole. this is usually for sexual encounters since he can please in his goo form a lot better but I won’t get into those details here. that’s just another bond he can make.
