This is how Democorcy works! 2-18-2011
For those under a rock or totally clueless. Theres been massive protests here in Madison Wisconsin over a bill that the Governor is trying to ram through that threatens the unions.
This has got the state in utter hackles and both sides of the fence out in force arguing and shouting each other down.
The Media is comparing it to the recent protests in Cairo Egypt and erupting all over the Arab world.
So I decided to head down today and join in the protest and sea of protest signs. And made what you see here.
I had both sides of the fence laughing at the sign, calling it the best sign of the protest. I soon found a few others who also decided to screw with the general populace with not on topic signage.
Signs like 'I blame Farve' (after Greenbay Quarterback Brett Farve defected to Minnesota) and 'Just pay the Goddamned NFL Players their money!', 'Loud angry noises here', I'm here for the beer...wheres my damn beer?'
Though I do love the sign to my left!!
Yes I had fun, yes I was in a way trolling both sides in a humorous way. And Effectively so, I couldn't go 10 feet without being stopped and photographed all the 4 hours.
Sometimes you just got to rub both sides of an arguments nose in it!!

Yeah, this person here could use a spell checking and they are even standing in the same crowd! They could save a long walk!
Heh, good one!
Also, am I the only one who hates it when protests in the US or in Europe (except Belarus or Russia) are compared to the protests in the arabic world? I think it disparages the protests of those people in the arabian countries, after all they are risking their lifes to finallyget rid of living conditions under which most of us in the west would allready have given up, laid down and died. In Libya there where snipers, shooting at the protesters for fucks sake! Things like that are unimaginable in a democraty. So please, stop comparing your protest to the arab protests, its like comparing a fight between two groups of sixt graders on a school yard in winter to the battle of Stalingrad.

They did that? I mean comparing protests like that? (Europe here)
I mean, I know they've been cracking down on the Unions after the revolution in russia nearly a hundred years ago, McCarthy going after anyone who was sympathetic to even only a small part of the communist manifest, but I had hoped people had learned a little.
I mean for heaven's sake, we have regular protests in Stuttgart (germany) against the Stuttgart 21 project which is about a new train station (and a new train line, but it's the station the prostests mostly are about).
In france they have general strikes when the goverment has to do something unpopular.
That's our neighbouring country and you can't even compare those protests.
You should really put up a protest against the stupidity of the media.
We have also prostests against the transport of nuclear material from nuclear power stations and lots of other small stuff. But replacing the goverment? No one is crazy enough to even want the job at the moment. They (current parties in the goverment (yes, we have more than two, but it's of no use, it comes down to two sides)) broke it, they should fix it.

Yes, the two have been compared to one another, mostly by those siding with the union.
Even if I was in agreement with them (I'm not, but that's another issue) I'd be all /facepalm. The protests in Africa and the Middle East were in the face of a whole metric butt-tonne of official government opposition, up to and including gov't security forces (Libya in particular, but not exclusive to them) using deadly force freely, all for the sake of wanting to be out from under the thumb of totalitarian DICKtatorships. What do those in Wisconsin, protesting about whether or not teachers have to pay a few extra bucks for their insurance and retirement plans, face for their efforts? Some namecalling by the other side. Boo-freaking-hoo.
Perspective, people need it.

Reminds me of my participation at a tea party rally here.

I've been wondering (and a little concerned) about you being stuck in the middle of this. "Comparisons to Cairo," no, this looks more closer to the austerity "protests" in Europe last year. Let's just hope that for your (and your family's) safety, it doesn't end up like them.
