Quite a collaboration on this piece but it turned out really well! Sarah's been messing around as a bird recently, more precisely, as a crow! What mischief can one get up to as a flightless bird?

With such a massive bird on the prowl, nobody could truly ignore the sloshing sounds, the heavy thumps of those overburdened talons. Every imposing sway of those thighs and rumbling of that gut was sure to keep all eyes on her. Was it curiosity or was it a healthy dose of caution? Many had heard the rumours. The 'Midnight Baker'. A vigilante folktale that was growing with each missing criminal. Police were even at wits end. How do a series of notorious thieves just vanish one by one? No trace of kidnapping, no signs of struggle. Just a sudden dead end and no leads on the case. In fact, most cases were ending with a small pile of breadcrumbs.
Speaking of breadcrumbs, there was a particular thief, known for harassing delivery drivers coming to the town, stealing shipments, slashing tires. Overall costly to the locals and the subsequently rising food prices. That just wouldn't do. Ten O'clock... old downtown alley, Around the corner of Jacks. The alleys were never quite wide enough, though that worked well in some situations. A tricky owl adorned in a cloak could be seen, switchblade out as the lithe trucker held her arms high. There was the odd glance over the thieves shoulder but by the time they turned...

"I saw them... it... I don't know. It was massive! A beast as black as the night, towering over us both... Just lifted him and y'know..." The poor bat could barely mutter her words. Surely she couldn't have witnessed the impossible... an entire person gone in seconds. She was happy to be alive and well though now she knew, she had seen that coy smile, that single claw raising up. A shush. Shuddering, she could still recall in vivid detail each moment as she talked to her boss in that very alley it had all gone down. The only evidence left being that discarded blade.
"And so she... they ate them right here?" The portly fox muttered out, his arms crossed as he looked down the desolate alley. The bat girl could only nod once more, though something wasn't quite right. There wasn't a shred of urgency. Not when the shop had opened and even now, during lunch break. In fact, it almost felt routine with the way the fox rolled over the details. He knew just what to ask, as if this was just another order coming in. "Should we call someone? Say something?" The bat timidly suggested. The fox merely shook his head, lips pursed as he continued to scan the alley.
"I think we shouldn't... it'll be by later for its payment anyway. We have a busy day of baking ahead. They'll only be satiated for a while. They'll be back.
