Back at the Bakery/Ice Cream Shop, Maya was continuing to witness the defeat of the Crabby Cake Heartless. When the darkness dissipated, a Heart came out of its body, making its way up into the ceiling. As this occurred, the body of the Crabby Cake began to disappear, as the Heart floated away, disappearing as well. The Crabby Cake was no more.
Maya: I don’t know how. But I was able to pull it off. And really shows I need to start training again.
Feeling relief that the threat was over, Maya dismissed her Keyblade, as she looked all around her. This is when realization brought her back to the current situation she was in. She may have been successful in fighting and defeating the Heartless, but the aftermath had caused the entire backroom of the place to be on fire.
Maya: Oh crap! I forgot about the fire!
Running to the front counter of the shop, Maya quickly grabbed the fire extinguisher, and started to do what she could to extinguish the flames. However, no matter how much Maya tried to put out the flames, the fire was too big and now out of control. The situation was only made worse when the extinguisher she had was now empty.
Maya: Damn it! I need to get help!
Throwing away the extinguisher, Maya made her way to the back door, avoiding the flames around her. When she made it to the back door of the Bakery/Ice Cream Shop, she saw that the door was blocked by debris which fell from the ceiling.
Maya: I don't have time for this!
Quickly summoning out her Keyblade, Maya cut through the debris in front of her, as she rammed into the door. Already having a running speed, she was able to break the lock, forcing it open. Making it out of the building, Maya looked at the business she worked for. Apart from the smoke coming from the now open back door, smoke was coming out from the roof of the building, as that began to be replaced with flames.
Maya: The flames are only growing! I need to call the fire department!
Trying to act fast, Maya started to quickly run towards the front of the building. But as she was turning a corner, she unexpectedly came face to face with a policeman, leaning against his patrol car and his arms crossed in front of him. To see an officer of the law in front of her burning shop, Maya felt relief.
'Oh thank God the police! That means the fire department should be coming soon!'
Unfortunately for her, the officer that she had encountered was Officer Sizemore, and he was there for a very different matter.
Officer Sizemore: Stop right there, missy!
Hearing the loud yell from the officer, Maya did what she was told, but was confused as to why he would respond to her like that.
Maya: Oh Officer! Thank heavens you're here! You need to call the fire department here! The place is on fire!
Officer Sizemore: Oh don't you worry about that, they're on the way. The bigger question is, what caused the fire?
Taken unexpectedly by his question, Maya didn't know what to say. She knew she couldn't just say it was because of a large monster shooting fire attacks at her just moments ago. Not to mention that the same monster was now gone. With no other options, she knew she had to make something up.
Maya: The fire? I don't know. It could be electrical. When I made it to the backroom, the ingredients were already on fire.
Squinting his eyes, Officer Sizemore looked at Maya in suspicion. Despite him acting like this, he was playing Maya along, trying to get her trapped in a corner.
Officer Sizemore: Really. That sounds kind of specific if you ask me.
Maya: Well, how else could it have started?
Officer Sizemore: I should reiterate my question. Instead of "what" caused the fire to start, it's more of "who" started the fire?
With her eyes widening, Maya was taken back by what she was hearing. The Officer wasn't there to see what he could do to help, he was here accusing her of committing arson.
Maya: You think I'm the one who did this?!
Officer Sizemore: Then what's that in your hand?
Looking down at her right hand, Maya realized she still had her Keyblade out. Acting fast, she quickly hid her hands behind her, trying to play dumb and deny it.
Maya: Oh, that's nothing. Nothing at all.
Maya could only grin, trying to dodge the question. But Officer Sizemore only moved his arms, from bring crossed in front of him, to now being at his sides.
‘Heheh. I got you now.’
Officer Sizemore: Then why did you put your hands behind your back? If there's nothing, show them.
