After establishing the New Oplentian Empire, and beginning the process of converting the people of the city into loyal titan soldiers, one of Emperor Enigma's earliest decrees was the establishment of a colosseum. There, titans could compete and spar against each other both for personal glory and to entertain people who would gather from across the plane.

The scheme served multiple interlocking purposes.

1.) It gave his Titans a reason beyond their brainwashing to continue to train and grow more capable as warriors so that they might best their fellow Titans in the arena.

2.) Selling tickets to the events to those inside and outside of the Empire who had not yet succumbed to his influence, and inviting warriors from around the plane to compete against his titans, made it a perfect place to filter in those who would be most suggestible becoming one of his citizen-soldiers themselves. And the profits from their fights would further the cause.

3.) As the strongest and smartest of the titans, it gave him a venue to display why he, and he alone, had the right to conquer all of Crossroads and usher them into a new era of evolution.

After all, he ordered the colosseum built. Why shouldn't he take full advantage, displaying his strength and martial prowess to crowds, slowly realizing that they desire that power for themselves?

This day, like any day, is a good day to be a citizen-soldier of the New Oplentian Empire.
