A day like any other. Oswald standing in his workshop, soldering iron in hand, complete focus on his current project. One of the exec-androids broke down and apparently spilled wine everywhere in the process. The humanoid robot lying on his table just reeked of the stuff.
Oswald was just about to unscrew the chest panel from the black, ornate android as the door to his workshop shot open, the hydraulic pistons in the wall producing a pleasing whir in the process.
He put his tools on the working space and turned around to face the entryway, his eyes shooting open as he was suddenly facing the CEO of the company.
“Good morning, Mr. Watts.” said the over two meters tall, black-scaled Drakkin lady now standing in the doorway, adjusting her red coat, the colorful slits that formed her eyes darting down at Oswald. The fur on his back stood up straight. On top of being the CEO of the company, Cassius was already scary enough from afar, let alone from this close.
The legends people tell in the mess hall come to mind. On how she is supposed to have strange powers, being a Drakkin and all.
“M-morning, Miss.” Took him a second to get the words out, the mere presence of the lady making him almost choke.
The tall lady takes a few steps into the room. “I apologize for the unannounced visit, Mr Watts. But there are some matters that need discussion right now.”
Behind her, a familiar figure walked into the room. A man Oswald only know as “Mr. Kowalsky.” Tall, sand-colored fur and wearing a black suit, the Section Six logo proudly displayed on a pin on the front. Oswald really disliked him. And judging by how Kowalsky treats him at the shooting range when he is around, it seems to go both ways.
“Mornin’, Doc.” The tall figure muttered out as he followed behind Cassius and leaned against one of the tool benches, a dumb grin on his face.
“So.. what is the reason for this visit?” Asks Oswald, eyebrow raised, shaking off his nervousness in front of the lady. Expecting the worst as she points a finger at him and looks over to Kowalsky in response. But instead she grins and lets out a small chuckle. “Straight to the point! I like that.”
Cassius folds her arms in front of her chest, looking back at Oswald with her narrow eyes. “You were a soldier before you started here, correct?”
“Yes. Was a Major in the Vakiss upheaval.”
She raises an eyebrow “How many soldiers were under your direct command?”
“Five squads. 25 men total.” He responds, raising an eyebrow again, wondering what these questions are about.
But before he can even open his mouth to ask, the lady claps her hands and grins down at Oswald.
“Congratulations, Mr. Watts! You just got yourself a new job at this company.”
He leans against the table in surprise. “I- I am not sure I follow.”
“You are now in direct command of 50 of our men from Section Five as well as all of Section Six.”
Kowalsky jumps from his leaning into a standing position, looking up at the Drakkin lady “B-but I run Section Six. I am head of security!”
The lady just smirks, the red dot in her eye-slit rolling back to look at him. “See it as a paid holiday, Mr. Kowalsy. You can keep your flat in the tower for now, but your men are now under Mr… Major Watts’ command.” The eye facing him opens slightly, showing off her yellow sclera. “Do you understand, Mr. Kowalsky? Or do you have an issue with this decision?”
It takes him a few moments but he just nods before darting an evil look at Oswald, heading out of the room a few moments later. The lady facing back to Oswald, who is still trying to process the situation.
“Do not worry, Major Watts. I will make sure that Mr. Kowalsky does not interfere with your operations. I always hate to demote someone like this, but Mr. Kowalsky has been a thorn in my eye for a decent while.” Her expression becoming more serious. “Recent developments also require someone with a bit more… experience.”
Oswald folds his arms in front of him. “What is going on?”
“You will be briefed in the tactical room on floor 78 in 20 minutes. Your ID card has been cleared for all black-level sectors.”
She turns around and starts leaving the room as Oswald looks down at the broken android on his workbench.
“What about the broken androids?”
The lady stops dead in her tracks, turning around with a smirk on her face
“Oh, do not worry about it. The idiots in exec will have to deal with the lack of androids for a moment.”
Oswald slightly shocked at the response from the normally so straight-faced lady, looking back down at the broken android as she leaves the room.
“Joy oh joy.”
