Heyyy, I finally drew Captain Scora! I was having a fair bit of trouble bringing her to life in a way that I was happy with. Some art studies later and now I feel like I'm onto something here. Some might be able to spot what her inspiration is too now that I've finally drawn her.
Also, here's a bit of a look at what the standard military cybernetics look like. Its not a full prosthesis but almost everything has been at least upgraded and radiation hardened. The arms and legs are usually completely replaced with prosthetics. They're made out of far fancier stuff than Aonia's puppet so they are lighter and stronger. Mil-spec humans also have a fancy internal computer to run all the upgrades, and interface with electronics. Such computers can also be delegated tasks unsuitable for neural networks, much like starships and their supercomputers.

Speaking of wholesome....lovely piece Folvo and nice to see what Captain Scora looks like! I admit I don't recognise the inspiration? Their expressions btw are particularly well done, and does Aonia have flowers in her hair...well on her head? If so I may have to recalibrate my cuteonometer...wait, has she just leapt into her arms, I was going to comment on her clothing until I saw the motion indicators!
"They're made out of far fancier stuff than Aonia's puppet so they are lighter and stronger." - What's the reason for this?
"much like starships and their supercomputers." - Ah so Aonia can hand-off tasks to the supercomputers so she doesn't have to deal with them herself, or is there another reason for that?
Also, and purely out of curiosity, how tall are they both?

Hey thanks, I'm glad you like it!
Ok maybe some of my fellow zoomers might recognize her. She's inspired really heavily by Force Captain Scorpia from the She-ra reboot. Like its basically AU fanfiction at this point, but oh well. This universe is quite frankly me just pulling whatever out of myass internal repository of sci-fi nerdiness as I need it. Which is kinda fun, but I'm sure I'm going to end up in a pile plot holes and inconsistencies at this rate. I guess we'll see if it holds together long enough to make something interesting.
More like leaves than flowers? The things in her hair is a riff on those Greek leaf thingies that they so loved in ancient times. I don't remember what they're called.
"'They're made out of far fancier stuff than Aonia's puppet so they are lighter and stronger.' - What's the reason for this?"
Pretty simple really. Aonia's puppet is decorative, and used purely for communication with the crew. Mil-spec humans are intended to get into futuristic combat scenarios and not get turned instantly into paste by terrifying weapons technology. So the puppets are given cheap older parts. Mil-spec humans are given the best off the shelves.

Sorta based on my own observations of the relationship between humans and computers. Neural networks are great at things like learning, problem solving, socializing, being what we see as a living thing really. They are really terrible at math though, or repetitive tasks with high precision requirements. So Aonia's mind is made out of two pieces. The neural network that has her personality in it, and banks of supercomputers that do things like calculating jump trajectories, firing solutions, or as the Paste story showed, crunching through massive amounts of sensory data and doing all the math so that she could concentrate on the actually important stuff like... how shapely the Ortygia's hull is ;3
All of this isn't to say that Aonia's mind isn't many times more capable than a mk.1 meat brain, and can get very far by just kinda feeling it out the way that neural nets do, but its limitations are still supplemented with good ol fashioned calculators.

I haven't yet made concrete heights for them but Aonia's puppet is probably somewhere between 3-4ft(90-120cm) and Scora is probably like 6ft(180cm)

It's awesome, lovely scene!
Ah OK I see, I didn't even know they had rebooted She-Ra. And I wouldn't worry about it, you can either retcon it, deny everything, or say you meant to do that ;)
Yes I see it now, and as far as I can tell it's just called a laurel wreath, though Google may be lying to me, either way it's a nice aesthetic! Actually wait, where's her long super-bushy tail in this one? Oh no Aonia, what happened? I mean that thing is hard to hide - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/52032451/ - ;)

That makes sense, I suppose if Aonia's puppet is destroyed she can just make another one, but if an upgraded human is killed that's the end of the story.

You've definitely put a lot of thought into this! *eyes Folvo suspiciously and listens for any unexpected beeps* And well I mean can you really blame her? ;)

She definitely likes the big ones, though 6'0" isn't particularly out of the ordinary, I have a friend who's 6'2", though granted she's not as heavily built as Scora. Now I've had an image of her rubbing Aoina's head fondly as they're standing side by side, wonder how she'd react to that? ;)
Oh also, you have a talent of exotic but plausible sounding names, something I really struggle with.

Yeah the actually did, and I thought it was a blast. Also yeah, definitely gonna have to be unafraid to retcon the hecc out of things.
Ahhh, yeah that sounds about right. I think I looked that up when I was originally working on her design. I wanted to give things a kinda greek vibe since that was generally the theme that people go with when naming space missions and the like, at least in the US.
"That makes sense, I suppose if Aonia's puppet is destroyed she can just make another one, but if an upgraded human is killed that's the end of the story."
Yup, exactly. Its all about priorities. If one puppet breaks you just slap another one in there, since no vital part of Aonia lives in there.
"You've definitely put a lot of thought into this! *eyes Folvo suspiciously and listens for any unexpected beeps* And well I mean can you really blame her? ;)"
I may have put a bitttt of thought into it *Looks back and squints* ...But yeah, can't really blame her. ;3

I guess when you're starting from a "height" of 2 kilometers, it leaves you a bit biased. Also hey, cool tall lady friend! Still valid even if she isn't a muscle tank. Still trying to decide if I want Scora tall, or REALLY tall. I guess we'll see. Probably whatever height allows her to give headpats to Aonia's puppet easily while they're standing side by side. Because that sounds super adorable, and it would probably depend weather or not it was pre-mod or post-mod. Post-mod Aonia would probably like it.
Thanks! Granted all of the ship names are just names of regions on mars which in turn are just places from Italy ;3
Because lore wise, the ark ship, and most of the people on it are from Mars.
... *beep*

Excellent, usually remakes get a lot of flack, and yes I wouldn't worry about it ;)
Ah OK I see! And that would be handy re the puppets!
True, it's all about relative perspective ;) And yes though she's yet another person I have to look up at when talking to! Actually I'm pretty much average height, but that's still a lot of taller people. For what it's worth the size difference seems nice in this one, and you need to draw a pic with the head-pats, just to see the look on Aoina's face ;) Aoina is also definitely going to start a trend, the powers that be might be concerned at all the Captains flirting with their ships ;)
Ooooohhhhh right, if you hadn't told me that I would never have guessed, and interesting.
Hhhhhhmmmm *watches Folvo suspiciously*
