Another chance to use my chib pattern. :D It came out SO nicely! It's about six inches tall, and it's kind of weird to work that small after doing all the giant plush lately.
I am taking commissions for chibis, btw. but only of original characters. Starts at $40.
Will put in scraps with the other copyright infringements later. :)

So cute! Out of curiosity, have you made any other chibi pokemon in this style? It's so very very cute *o*
I really wouldn't worry *too* much about copyright infringement here =) You can make fan-based works with no problem, even sell them as fanworks in small quantities as far as I know. Unless you were mass producing, I'm sure no one would be upset by this at all =) Also, if you're making your own pattern based on an existing character, I don't think it's anything like the mass produced pokedoll bootlegs or whatever =)

Ooo! Yay! I'll be looking out to see it! =D
Well, I meant more toward the people who do own the characters. Game Freak, Nintendo, The Pokemon Company etc. Fan based works are always permitted, that you are making a little bit of money making them for people, I don't think they'd mind unless you were mass producing. Maybe think of it this way - you're selling your time, materials etc., rather than the character it represents. I don't think there is legally a problem as far as character goes, when you see all the fan-produced art being sold as buttons, posters and such. There are different laws in Asian countries surrounding copyright than Western ones too.
I was told at college once that I would be permitted to make and sell prints of a fan-based work of mine, because there was no mass production, all the artwork was mine and I'd sited references. I don't know what the technical legalities are, but my college wouldn't let us reference artists that had refused 'educational use' of their publications, so I'm sure they had some reason for telling me this. They were kind of string with copyright ^^;
I'm not saying that you should change your mind about this based on what the law allows, what people tell you you should think or whatever - if you're uncomfortable, you should do what feels right to you =). But I'm sure if you looked into it, there would be something floating around the internet to ease your concerns if you wanted to pursue it. Just my two cents I guess XD
