Even among Space fans, the Tranquility Calendar is just a curiosity, never seriously used for anything.
The confusion about what year Armstrong Day falls on is because it is between the last day of the last month of the old year, and the first day of the first month of the new year. Aldrin Day (Leap Year Day) is wedged in the middle of one month, so there's less confusion about what year it is in.
...and I'm an idiot, I was looking up the Tranquility Calendar today, and forgot how Tranquility Day is broken into two sections, one part before the 'zero minute,' one part after. That means that Tranquility Day and Armstrong Day, which is the anniversary of Tranquility Day, both straddle the year change, instead of being in only the old or new year.
I think I may be falling into the bad habit of continuing to type after my brain starts shutting down for the night. Yeah, if I'm staying up when brain-tired, my brain falls asleep in stages. My higher math section nods off early, and my sense of introspection also packs it in before a lot of other functions (kind of like being sleepy enough that you act drunk).
I should probably head off to sleep soon. It's been years since I woke up with 'keyboard face,' but why risk it?
