Christopher sees the good intentions in Michael and tries to comfort him. He's known him barely five hours, but nothing he's done has put Christopher off or told him he's a bad person. If the McKinneys love Michael, then they have good taste, they usually do from what little of them Christopher knows.
Michael is hopeful, but not sure. It helps hearing Chris tell him that, though.
