Third bear of the OC cast incoming! Unfortunately, he's super WIP at the moment. I just wanted to make sure I got as many of the cast as I could in Heroforge, so I came up with a basic placeholder concept for his appearance.
As usual, this is what I got when I turned the belly and waist sliders up to max. However, when I made these screencaps, I was unaware of the top-heaviness slider. Unfortunately, when I tried to experiment with it with a newer OC, the belly turned out weirdly triangular and caused some clipping issues in the model. Such is the curse D:
The hanzi for Duo's full name is 蔣 多. I checked the pronounciation guide for the hanzi online and double-checked with
TatsuoDaichi to confirm how Duo should be pronounced, and it is indeed not quite like the English word of the same romanized spelling. I'll try to explain to the best of my knowledge. The U is more of a glide than a held vowel, almost as if it were a W.
I picked the name for him because as a childe, my grandparents had a particularly large commemorative panda plush from our local zoo, and that eventually made its way to my house. At the time, I thought Duke would be a good name for the plush because mystery childe reasons. I wanted to pick a more authentic Chinese name that had a similar sound to it. There weren't as many viable options as I'd hoped, but Duo works pretty well because if my sources are correct, the hanzi that makes the name means "much or many." And a panda with an obligatory belly is indeed "much" :P
For the outfit, I decided to go with a cool-color plaid flannel. However, I couldn't decide which of the three main cool colors I wanted, so I decided to compare all of them. The fourth alt is basically so Duo can be in flannel/top hat combo club with Beauregard. I still don't know why I think these two clothing items go together :P
Personality, occupation, and whether he's part of the adventure team are still TBD. However, if he is part of the adventure team, I don't want to make him an unarmed martial artist. I feel like that's a tad too stereotypical. Besides, there's plenty of cool options for fantasy weapons.
