An updated work in progress shot of one of the watercolors I'm working on.
Still a lot of work left, but most of the darks are in place and it's now a matter of building in the lights to add depth and detail. Lots of work left to be done on the nose and eye to make them look organic and alive, and the ears are still very two dimensional.
I also think his coat could use a bit more fuzz. You can never have too much of that! :)
It's coming along! Feedback is encouraged, as always.

Thank you, Es! I hope it continues to improve as I keep working on it.
And yes, the watercolors I use come out of tubes. The brand I use is Winsor & Newton, and this is what they look like: http://www.dickblick.com/products/w.....s-watercolors/

Thank you, sir! :)
I'm a bit happier with the back and rump than I am with the face and shoulder. I did the face/shoulder parts early on, but wasn't exactly pleased with them and tried a different technique on the rest, which I think worked quite a bit better and provided a much more realistic texture and mix of colors. Now I know for next time!

Thank you for the kind words! I'm finally starting to get used to watercolor, and a large part of my motivation behind trying this kind of detail was to get over more of my fears. Let's face it - watercolor can be a somewhat unforgiving medium, so I've been too cautious about trying new things, and that's no way to learn.
I'm somewhat happy with how this is turning out so far, but that being said, I obviously have a long way to go in terms of doing consistently satisfactory work. Hopefully it will look nice in the end. Thank you, again! :)
