I do a lot of work and volunteer work in New Orleans. It was a nice day, I had gone with a professor I work with to grab a beignet in the French Quarter. I snapped this postcard-type shot on the way out. I'm usually taking photos of hurricane damage and repair, so this was a nice shot to get my mind off of that.

I'm sorry to hear that you were ones of the many that got uprooted after the hurricane. I do a lot of work with evacuees adn have done volunteer work in the city itself and the rest of the city was such a mess back then. I was surprised to find out that the French Quarter really didn't get flooded. It's on the upper bank of the river and the highest part of the city. The people who first settled knew where to build, apparently. I hope you're doing alright where you are now.
