You have a great talent, but you hardly ever draw pictures and you are more internationally known.
I can well imagine that nobody knows you at a small local convention.
I feel the same way sometimes.
I've been building suits for a long time and registered it as a business in 2011. However, I've always built high-tech suits and it was always too expensive too expensive
(I'm probably one of those very few suiters who occasionally have to get out of their suit because I didn't dress warm enough and ended up freezing)
So I gave up the business after 6 years and have only been building for myself ever since.
I'm not the extremely networked type and rather unknown in my home area. This sometimes leads to funny encounters.
(hardly of the younger suiters know me anymore. but almost all German suitbuilders, especially those who have been doing it for a long time)
In any case, on a walk in the next larger city, on which I walked with one of my suits after a long time, another suiter think he had to give me a "basic course" in suites before the walk, because he had never taught me before had seen ^^
The organizer of the walks, who has known me for a long time, then explained to him that I've been in the fandom longer than he was old. ;D
Anyway, if you introduce yourself and talk to people a bit and let them see you more, soon more people will know you.
In my experience, it's very easy to meet people at Cons. Even on smaller ones.
