Well, I guess I can put this up here as well, this is an intaglio (engraving/print... thing) where I tried to use some of the mezzotint technique along with some others... they don't mix too well, I'm afraid (you can see that the greys are not too consistent). This is the first thing I managed to make in the last month and a half... It's still so difficult...
Anyway, it's just me dressed in traditional Florentine clothes, that's where I was born... Since this is a drawing, I could have tried to at least make myself look better than life. Ah well, no point lying; I am a plain thing!
I hope you can enjoy this. I know that there are no animals (well, humans are animals, no?), but there might be a mouse in the basket, I can't see it though.

It could be, but that's a general thing that can be applied to all works, the technique here is grating the printing plate with a sand-paper like rock as to give the illusion of gray, but as you can see it came out a little blurry (that means inconsistent, right? like, there are spots that aren't grey, a little dirty... I guess that here is where my limited English comes to place). As for the background not being so defined, yes, that was planned. ^^
And like a photograph, that's a lovely compliment, thank you! I tried to be as true to life as I could.

There's a Bouguereau painting of a young woman with a pose and costume extremely similar to this...
And with a quick look into my little painting inventory-- This is sorta reminiscent of Bouguereau's Young Shepherdess, The Bohemian, and Alone In The World.
Although your face just screams Bizet's CARMEN to me for increasingly inexplicable reasons.
But yeah, a really beautiful print-- your gaze is quite striking in this.

Oh my! Yes, this dress is also found in France, ah well, it's simple; the basic 'shape' is common through Europe... but wow, I never realized, I do look similar to those girls there, oddly so... And it's funny that you should mention Alone in the World, if I had to choose one painting to represent how I feel right now it would have to be that...
Ha, and Carmen! Yes, now that you've mentioned it I can't quite get it out of my mind either. No reason why though.
Thanks for that, you're making me blush! I'll agree that I'm not ugly, but beauty is memorable, something I doubt I am, maybe my violin playing will be considered to be beautiful... one day! As for the print, it is pretty true to life, apart from the wardrobe- which invariably consists of trousers and dress shirts (what? It's the twenty first century!)... maybe a sweater when its cold, or in the middle of summer, because, you know.

After I posted the comment, I was taking a closer look at Alone In The World and noticed she was also holding a violin, and then I thought about the title-- "OH SHIT" I was afraid I may have been, like, insensitive or something in that comparison. I'm glad you just took it as an interesting little point though; then again perhaps some kind of recognition like that can be relatively cathartic but I don't know! Rambling, sorry.
It is weird! I guess you just have the face/presence for Carmen! Go do that!
Well I am pretty boring so "plain" is nice for me. Haha. The violin-ing certainly enhances it all, too.
"maybe a sweater when its cold, or in the middle of summer, because, you know. "-- you're just 2 KOOL 2 B KOOL.

Artistically charming, technically stunning. The way you perceive and put down clothing and lighting is very impressive. There's always something beautiful in the 'ordinary'; in the real world. When you can put that down through your interpertation of that reality in art you get success and something special.
You're too kind with your praise, technically charming perhaps! Art, that's always a touchy subject, depends on your definition, I guess. I'd not give this much merit in that respect. As for beauty in the ordinary, ha, yes! Even bleak embers, when thrown to the ground break and gash gold-vermillion!
Thank you very much, I am honored you think so highly of this.

You're welcome! I don't want to say you're being too humble--that'd be rather assumptuous --but perhaps you're too close to this and don't want to consider yourself art. But lives of interesting and charming people themselves are art, and as such a pretty portrait such as this one is undeniably powerful art to me.
