Diving into the land of lithographic printmaking for one of my classes.
On the right is an acrylic painting on acetate, and on the left is one of the lithographic prints made using the photo-plate transfer process. The whole ordeal was very eye-opening, and I know I won't be able to get away with tiny shifts in value for my next plate. After that plate, we'll be drawing on a lithograph stone, and I am the perfect combination of excited and terrified! Such an artistic relic...pity it'll probably die out in the near future due to the time consuming process. :c
And my hands will NEVER BE CLEAN AGAIN.

Intaglio was next on my list if I didn't get into relief/woodcut/lino printing!
I'm really hoping someone finds similar deposit of limestone somewhere in the world. It'd be so...unreal to have an art form die out that way. I'm not sure anything like that has ever happened!

i doubt lithography will die out any time soon, especially with the rising popularity of pronto plates. the only chemistry you need nowadays is citric acid, gum arabic, and soy based inks that clean up with soap and water. anyway this is a wild print, keep up the good work.
Ah, I hadn't even heard of pronto plates! I should ask my instructor if he knows anything about them. I was lamenting the other day about how I wouldn't be able to do lithography outside of class due to not having a press. How I wish you could hand-press lithoprints like a woodblock!
And thank you. c:

pronto plate lithography can be done on an etching press or by hand. for consistency press is always better than no press. you can pick up a tiny etching press that is not very accurate for setting the pressure for $120 but probably hand printing is the way to go. http://www.nontoxicprint.com/polyes.....platelitho.htm
the other thing to do is to join a print shop when you leave school. this can be cheaper alternative to renting private studio space and has the benefit of an established community.
