I made some new handles for a couple hammers. I chose a different style than what I was used to.
All of my other hammers have flared ends so the handle can rest against it when a full swing is arced.
I chose this old school shape of handle for my lighter duty hammers that don't get a lot of heavy use and are mostly used for setting rivets or copper work.

Left to right is oak, ash, ash.
I use a lot of ash and hickory an seldom find myself using oak unless the handle isn't going to go through a lot of heavy work. These are lighter hammers for soft whacks instead of heavy blows like that of a forging hammer.
I usually use these for sheet metal work, copperwork, and forming rivets.
