About 25 years ago, the Freelands state of Südblütental [roughly equivalent to Austria in our world] produced a show for young people called Die Tagesbrecher (The Daybreakers) about a group of young rangers who patrol the frontier mountains of their home to foil the schemes of the spies and saboteurs of the evil neighbouring country of Mawnth.

This is a sketch of the squirrel-were character, Peter "Schneller" Eichen, played back in the day by Klaus Nussjäger. Best friend of the main character, wolf-were Karli "Anvil" Wanderfuss (played by Karl Herzesser), Schneller was not only the brainiest member of the Daybreakers, but also its fleetest of foot, and he could be depended upon to get any important message back to authorities in town just in time to save the day.

Originally a local, Deutschic-language phenomenon, the show became a huge hit across the Freelands, being subtitled (and occasionally dubbed) into several different languages, including Anglic, Frankic, Spanic, and several others. The show has been in syndication ever since and has never been completely off the air in the Freelands and several other countries, particularly among the Federate Allies.
