I'm just adding to what is already shared but the name of the bow being used is a Yumi. The reason for its design and unique drawing style is a result of its use and history. They were first used by the Samurai who would use them on horseback. That is the reason the design was to make it easier for them to maneuver the bow to either side of the horse's body when they were in a full charge towards the enemy.
