When the entrance signage says 'No Trebuchets', they mean it. ;-p
A warm welcome to you to my (admittedly rather late) summary series of Confuzzled 2023! I'll be posting over this long weekend about my experiences at Britain's largest furry convention, held between the 26th and 30th of May. My visit to this con was, similar to this series, quite overdue, but after a kind offer of a room by
Huskyteer and sure in the knowledge that furry friends from the UK and overseas would be attending, I decided to finally go for it.
*Fun times! I typed up my report from today, but as I hit 'Finalize', my internet momentarily died, and I lost everything... :< So, here's a brief summary of today's goings on, which I will flesh out later.*
- Woke up a little later today, had breakfast with Husky and a couple of her friends, headed over to the Hilton early to go to Con Ops and ask about my badge.
- Con Ops had my badge (huzzak!). Able to once again access the con space, I headed to a 'Furry History 101' panel. Wasn't quite what I expected it to be, so I left halfway through to go to the Dealers' Den.
- Found Tea a bit dehydrated in the Den. Went to get some water, but security asked to come in with me to watch me give it to them, due to previous water-related incidents in the Den.
- Had a hot dog for lunch from a food truck out the front.
- Went to a 'Mental Health Myths 101' panel, convened by an actual therapist from the USA. Rather well done.
- Went back to the Den - where I saw the trebuchet - where I picked up a commission, and dropped off my new sketchbook.
- With my sketchbook in good paws, I headed for the main bar for a drink. Got scolded (presumably in jest) by Uncle Kage for stepping up to the bar and making the waitress stop singing. Sat around nursing my beer, waving at fursuiters, and wandering around the con space for a bit.
- Ate dinner with Husky at a Japanese restaurant on the site. Food was very good, and the service very speedy, which suited Husky as she had a panel on at 7. I returned to the room, dropped off my stuff, and had a quick doze.
- Walked back to the Hilton, where I met up with Husky for drinks. Turns out we were sat next to Tonya and a couple of her friends, so after they departed she joined us. We parted ways, headed back to the Crowne Plaza, and turned in shortly before midnight.
Hope you enjoy!
