This is Bird! My new tabaxi for an upcoming dnd campaign. She's a Circle of Stars druid as well as an acolyte who follows Akyiska. She's 5'11, 27 years old.
Bird left home at 13 when her small family informed her they could no longer afford to feed her. It was either try her own luck, or stay and starve. She wandered the plains for a bit, surviving off scraps of squirrel before being welcomed into a temple, her fur housing visible ribs. They offered her shelter in exchange for working the land as well as being sworn to silence as outside views were quite unwelcome. Over time she became a diligent student of the temple, curiously absorbing their belief and tradition. She had an open mind that led her to insight beyond the teachings of her preachers. Although unspoken, her cheeky curiosity piqued the attention of another young scholar, Seven, who she quickly developed a friendship with. Together they would venture far into the fields where she would break her first vow and share conversation with Seven. They formed a habit of sneaking scrolls away to discuss their thoughts in private, springing their own ideas forward from the text. Bird would eventually start dreaming visions of a celestial druid who would mentor her and teach her of the primordial way of Akyiska. Excitedly, she shared this information with Seven. They would continue meeting over the next year, sharing ideas and reveling in the druidic skills that were blossoming under her nightly tutelage. Over time, however, Bird noticed Seven's demeanor begin to change. He seemed nervous, withdrawn, somber even. She would try in vain to ask him about this but her questions only seemed to upset him further. The following day, Bird went to their meeting place in the meadow, only to find it empty. She waited until the shadows drew long before resigning herself back to the temple only to be met with guards at the thorny clearing they typically used to slip out. Among them was a forlorn Seven. It made sense now; he could no longer bear the weight of their treachery as his faith and duty grew in the temple. He had revealed their secrets. Taking the opportunity to rid himself of the outsider he never approved of, a zealous preacher sentenced Bird to her death. It was ruled only fair for them both to carry the weight of their transgressions. Bird, ever resourceful, found an opportunity for escape in the night and begged Seven to join her. He felt as though he had broken an oath so deep, his only path to repentance was with his life. He stayed behind to face his fate while Bird fled, beyond heartbroken. Now she wanders the lands taking up odd jobs and doing her best to forget her time at the temple she once called home.
I find out what adventures await her next week!
