Chaaya gradually grew accustomed to her new life in Shapier; working at the Inn during the day the best she could; training her swordplay and magic in the evenings with her teacher; the traveler Shema had secret, curious thoughts about.

But she still remained unsatisfied and restless. One evening, while enjoying a cool breeze on the roof of her tiny apartment, she looked up at the sky just in time to see a shooting star fall behind the clouds.

She would leave Shapier with her teacher a few weeks later, bidding a tearful goodbye to her friend and sister. Shema and Chaaya would not see each other for many years and when they reunited, Chaaya was very much a different woman.
